I carefully drilled a little hole in the box that has the bleeder hose on the bottom just deep enough the thickness of the plastic so not to damage anything inside . Put the little hose in it and sprayed the foam cleaner worked great !! After I just put a bit of gasket sealer to cover the little hole so next just peel it off to put more foam !

One of the reasons this problem occurs is because the drain gets partly clogged. By going up through the drain you can break loose some of that slim and gunk that is causing the problem.

@@petervonpanda Thank you for the video, it is inspirational. However, after I checked my AC-box diagram (heatercore, evaporator, etc), The evaporator is at the bottom of the AC box next to the drain. I did what you suggested but still have some fault smell. Then, I pull the carpet on the passenger side and reach the drain hose. From there I insert as deep as possible the AC-cleaner plastic hose and spray it like mad and preventing it from shoot back. Now it is clean. The stack is: top (electric heater core), middle (heater core from radiator), and bottom (AC evaporator). That's why Toyota recommend it to insert the spray from drain hose (either from under the car or pull the house from the carpet).

"essential oils" don't work on mold/mildew/bacteria in the same way as "industrial cleaners." It's why you'll never see that junk used in any area where mold control is an actual goal. Most of them are just covering the scent, not actually killing the root of the problem.

Wouldn't you put it on the side that the air is coming in so that it works through? That means you would have to take the filter out and spray it into the outside vents or if you can spray it on the coils with the filter out if you can see them.
@TheFamliy7902 жыл бұрын
DONT do through the inside vent - if you are not sure if the tube gets down to the coil. I accidentally shoot the chemical into my eye because the tube runs from this vent to the other vent. I was wearing safety glasses, but thought it was ok to shoot it away into the vent so I removed my glasses. The chemicals came straight into my eye.

@@itsnotfunny8257 depens on which car. In Toyota it does not work, only from the drain hose is effective removing mold on the evaporator. It is 6 feet long to reach evaporator from vent. But the dirty part is at the bottom of evaporator where the blower channel in, next to drain hole. Similar to Germans cars or any Japanese car. Typically, The AC Evaporator located at the bottom of the AC-box. Next to the drain hose at the floor of the car.
@bryansychingiok3 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I wonder if the foam actually reaches that area. Usually its the back of the AC evaporator that gets wet and accumulates all that gunk.
@rondhole3 жыл бұрын
@@bryansychingiok It depends on the car's AC box design. In most Toyota the evaporator is on the top, the heater core is at the bottom. Therefore, his method works but some other cars has AC evaporator much deeper down. What I did to my Toyota, I combined both method, Spray from the top/middle vents and from the drain hose. It seems very effective but I need 1 big bottle 400mL

@rondhole I know this comment is a couple years old, but for those doing some pre-work research. ☝️This method mentioned is the best. Going thru the drain tube gets u closest to the evaporator. @CanadianBullFrog4 жыл бұрын

@rondhole4 жыл бұрын
As long as you reach evaporator. It should work. Really depends on where the evaporator was located and designed. Most of the time, drain tube is the best since evaporator always at the bottom of AC box. Never put this product before the filter, it should be after the filter or filter will be wet, clogged or dripping dirt to blower and entire AC system.
@johnf89914 жыл бұрын
@@rondhole I agree, spoke to AutoZone mechanic who used similar product in past, told to remove the inside cabin air filter or will have a wet mess inside the car; even if product cleans, getting the filter wet could cause the dirty unit to flush mold and mildew into the filter, making it a wet bacteria playground.

For my case, not only the evaporator coil was mouldy. The air vents channel from dashboard to the core housing was also a source of odour. Had to use isopropanol sprayed thru long tube via syringe. What it will do is clean anything off of the evaporator coils. So if you have good ac that quits running after a while this may be a solution.
@johnf89914 жыл бұрын
Possibly. I just had my drain hose flushed with air pressure by my mechanic and it was ice cold when finished, but I have a clog so it gets hot after the water pools and flows onto the passenger floor. I just tested this product today, felt cooler while idling and hopefully it will have cleaned mold / mildew / etc. that was blocking my drain hose from proper drainage. So in short evap core definitely affects your ac coolness, alternative is to have mechanic remove and manually wash the evap core or replace the evap core.
