my housemate washed his jacket for the first time in 7 years by just letting it soak for 24 hours in water, be says it's been falling apart extra fast since then so we joke that the beer and mosh sweat were the only things holding it together.

something that i've learned: try not to touch the paint (too much) while the clothes are wet, because then the paint is softer and more fragile and you can accidentally scratch it off or leave fingerprints on it

Should work yeah. Most of those things have a finish on them so itll prevent water damage

I dyed my vest black bc it was beige then I painted it black with acrylic paint THEN MY MOM PUT IT IN THR WASH BC IT WAS HARD AND STIFF EVEN THOUGH I TOLD HER IT WOULD LOSEN UP I still used it bc I was to lazy to redo it BUT I also added mod podge to the patches just as a extra layer

There’s a medium called Gac-9000 (the number may be different) basically you can mix any acrylic paint with it and itll become fabric paint

I recommend taking off all pins cause sometimes u cans rust but spikes, safety pins etc will 99% of the time it'll come out okay

I use paint pens made for working on fabric or u could use leather paint maybe

If you use an iron or some type of heat before you wash em, it should be good. It’s a one time thing, you don’t have to do it every time. Idk the specifics of how hot it has to be or anything like that, but you can probably get that info somewhere else.

I‘ve heard that mixing the colour with fabric softener helps too. It‘s supposed to prevent cracking paint as well, but I haven‘t trief it yet^^

Heyyy, does anyone have tips for either: washing things painted with regular acrylic paint without washing any of the paint off, or do you know of any kind of clear sealant-type thing that you can paint over an acrylic patch to prevent the paint from washing off while keeping it flexible? i have an acrylic patch on a hoodie i wear and wash regularly and the paint hasnt faded/washed off/bled and i havent put any sealant stuff or finish on it

If your patches are acylic paint/ others non permanent paints i think using cold water will work better because warm water will just melt it off. Just a theory though
