I do this from time to time, as well as do mechanical repairs myself and see how much I can make just for fun. Usually profit margins are around $3000-$7000). I do a full rejuvenation of the exterior (wash, physical/chemical decontamination, cut, polish, coating of the paint and wheels). Complete overhaul of the interior (blowout, vacuum and dusting, cleaning all trim and seats, extraction, dressing). And finish up with fluid changes, new pads, drivetrain inspection and repair if need be, etc... Usually takes me about 3 days and I only ever do it if I can find 3 free days and a very good example of a car/truck that I know I can turn around. I want to say it’s a hobby and something I enjoy every once in a while, but also who would I be if I didn’t prove my worth every once in a while?

Nice video! I have the same steam cleaner. One helpful tip is if you remove the black plastic tip (the one that is replaceable with brushes), you can then shoot steam at higher velocity and lower steam volume (less wet) more like a "steam pressure washer" to really work out stubborn gunk in tight areas... Let me know what you think... 👍

I bought one of those steamers. I work on Vehicles everyday.. They bring in cars with oil leaks. And most have more oil on the outside of the engine. Then there is oil in it..So I charge them just for cleaning that crap off. So I can see the leaks...Plus they can see the engine does not leak anymore. Once I'm done. The machine paid for itself after the first 4 I did...
@inkpapers-13 жыл бұрын
I've only had my engine bay cleaned once -- it was steam cleaned, because when I went to go get an oil change.. whoever did it left the cap loose. The entire bay was covered in oil. I was shocked when I soon discovered it. And I was shocked at how new it all looked after I got it steam cleaned by a kind mechanic who hardly charged me at all for it.

I keep my engine bays and underneath where the oil pans, transmissions, transfer cases, differentials, wheel wells, struts/shocks, and interior are spotless at all times. The same goes maintenance wise as well, using only premium products. The biggest reasons are - 1. If there is a leak, it can be spotted immediately. 2. Having a dirty engine and/or radiator is the equivalent of wearing a coat in the middle of summer. 3. Vehicles cost way too much to not care for them properly. 4. Confidence - Never know if/when I need to make a last minute trip and knowing either vehicle will get us there and back with almost no chance of mechanical/electrical incidents. And "Yes" - Whenever a mechanic is involved (which is almost nil except for warranty reasons), they do treat my vehicles far better than anyone else's, every time, of which I am always grateful.

I know this is an old video and you don't have this truck anymore, but on the off chance that you or someone else reads this when you get corrosion like that on your positive battery cable it generally means that the voltage regulator in the alternator failed and is overcharging the battery where as corrosion on the negative terminal can either mean the battery is going bad or the alternator itself is not putting out enough voltage.... Either way just something to watch out for in the future. Keep up the good work.

@@tommyboybr it shouldn't cause any issues but if you want to absolutely make sure there that the risk is as low as possible I'd recommend making sure everything is off and make sure the the key has been in the off position for 30 minutes as some ECUs can remain active for a bit after the car has been turned off
