Bugs on your visor or facesheild are not only a safety risk, but they are also extremely irritating. Today, we reveal one of our favorite Moto Life Hacks for getting a perfectly clean visor when you are out and about, without any special cleaning supplies. This works at most any gas station using just the windshield cleaning station, and most importantly, without risking any scratches to your visor.
Warning: This technique may not work with some photochromatic, light-sensitive visors. Check with your visor manufacturer before attempting.

For several years now I have improvised a windshield wiper during light to medium rain which works very well. I cut an inch and a half of a new wiper and super glue it to my left glove on the index finger. I don't glue the middle part to allow for some bend in the rubber. For light to medium rainfall this work perfectly by wiping my left index finger from left to right. This lasts for a about a month before the super glue wears off in which I re-glue it again. Super clear visibility!

Good tip! Doing it over a year now, works flawlessly. Scratch free. In fact that's the whole point of soaking the paper towel - it prevent scratching your visor by dried-up bugs remains..

That’s a good hack. Another good one is if you have something to store a wet chamois in, wet one up and gently wring it so it stays moist, then throw it in a ziplock bag and take it with. Because it’s wet it’s the same concept as your video here, except you don’t need a gas station to do it!

For years I’ve used baby wipes! I keep a small pack under my seat, at work and in my garage. I also use them to clean files from the front of the bike. Used in the same way you show in the video. A cheap packet of baby wipes in the uk is around 50p.

Zee brand “clean n’ safe” wipes are specially design for face shields, goggles, and glasses. They clean incredibly well and are incredibly cheap. Not only that they contain an anti fog component as well.

I only recently started using a neck sock. And I can't believe how such a small addition to my kit increases comfort. Especially in hot weather. Having your neck exposed to all that road grit n dust is just unnecessary. I'm surprised more guys don't wear them all the time. And if it gets too hot I just soak it in water and it cools the blood flow to my head. Simple and effective

i tend to just carry microfiber rag and ammonia free spray with me. The real challenge is how to clean the visor right away after a bug smashed right where it blocks your vision and swiping with softer part of a glove only makes it smudge. Id say the best way would be to somehow attach a microfiber piece to your inner side of the arm onto the jacket,or i guess a long riding glove would work as well

great hack, TFS. my bigger problem is the visor fogging up all the time (dont know if it because of the winter thing right now with sub zero temps or what). i wear a balaclava which redirects the breathe down and even open the visor by 1 notch (3-4 mm gap) but to no avail. can you do a video on resolving that perhaps?

Yeah, thats a good idea. In the meantime, one trick they used to do in the air force is put a thin layer of soap on the inside of the visor and then buff it out. We don't really ride when its that cold, so for most of us, just cracking the visor open works most of the time.

Basically mini spray bottle with water and an e-cloth does the trick.... Don't need to be near a garage (uk for gas station!)... U.K. Garages rarely have windshield washing stuff anyway (probably because a 2 hour journey in a car is regarded as a long journey here 😋)

I use baby wipes to clean my visor. I keep a travel pack of wipes in my bike. I use them in the same way as in the video. I also add water to the pack of baby wipes to make them extra wet. They do dry out over time so I just keep adding a bit of water.

Nice to know! If you have squeaking riding boots, it probably comes from a joint. Use leather boots spray wax and spray a good amount around and in the joint. It will coat the leather and stop the joint from squeaking 👌

Plastic ziplock baggie with a microfiber towel and put some glass cleaner in there. Put in a side pouch of the tank bag. NOTE, clean it every night in the motel room sink! If you break that baby out after leaving it in the tank bag for 3 days straight, well, I hope you're wearing your helmet because the disgusting smell will surely make you faint.

An alternative, that is especially handy nowadays: use alcohol-based hands sanitiser :) Since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, you can find hands sanitiser in nearly any public place: shops, restaurants, cafes, gas stations, etc (at least in Europe). Just take a paper towel (I like to carry a few clean ones in my back pocket), find a public place, add some sanitiser on the paper towel and go wipe your helmet. It works because alcohol dissolves fats very easily (that's exactly the property of why it's used for sterilization in medicine). And bugs' guts are mostly fats. Apply some alco on them and they will come right off. Warning: not all public places use alcohol-based hand sanitiser. Check its smell and feel before using it to clean your helmet.
