A little late to the party but re-watching while waiting for the next video. I don't use battery terminal protector spray, I use Vaseline (petroleum jelly) - much cheaper and doesn't make so much mess.

I've had my golf cart for 3 months when I push the pedal it does not go I can see some corrosion on some of the smaller wires coming into the batteries. So I was going to take them off and clean them just like I do my vehicle I started getting Sparks. If I flip it to toew will that stop?
@backshed5295 Жыл бұрын
No , clean them and then use a good terminal protectant is the only way to stop it.
@jimyoung3527 Жыл бұрын
That was excellent. I just did it to my cart. Except I didn't dip the wires in the baking soda solution. I just used the squirter bottle. Hopefully that's good enough! I didn't see the brand protectant you used. Have you heard of the CRC protectant? It doesn't look as thick. Also, what do you think about periodically spraying the battery terminals with the baking soda solution? Like maybe once every couple months.
@backshed5295 Жыл бұрын
any protectant is better than none , yep 100% spray them as often as needed. a good covering of protectant will make it longer between needing to be cleaned.

Great and fast, but did you say shut off the master switch before work? It was said very fast and we didn't get a good view of the switch.

Yep Switch to Tow then disconnect

Enjoyed your video, my only concern is that batteries produce explosive vapors and you are using a drill that can produce sparks as it runs and that could be catastrophic. ( my batt powered drills, porter cable, produce sparks)
@backshed5295 Жыл бұрын
If it’s sparking throw it away. Batteries only produce gas when under heavy load charging mate you would smell the gas strongly , relax a little mate it’s not a concern.

So washing the batteries with the hose is ok?
@damoontwo47253 жыл бұрын
Also, I have the exact same cart and batteries (only got it about 2 months ago), how are they filled as I can see the hose going into all the batteries but I have not encountered anything like that before and I want to make sure they are maintained.
@backshed52952 жыл бұрын
Yes totally fine.

Follow the hose to both ends , 1 end will have a fitting on it for a watering hand pump. Google search watering hand pump for flow rite battery watering system. You will find what you need .

My golf cart is full in the morning after charge but a little after midday the cart is sluggish what could it be a battery water problem.

Have you watered it ? Check the level that will tell you

After cleaning, I’m assuming you get more power. Does this mean more speed or just extension of battery life?
@backshed5295 Жыл бұрын
Battery life and less chance of resistance causing failure. The speed controller governs the speed of the car so no greater speed gain than factory setting however if your cart has been slowing due to low voltage or great resistance than yes it will recover your speed back to factory.

I noticed while checking voltage my 48v Club Car DS that the plastic surface of the batteries were conducting electricity at just under the voltage you'd expect from testing the lead terminal. the readings were 0 on a new battery but just about full value for the 5 others. What's this about? Trojans 8v, abt 10yrs old.

Did you really just pressure wash the batteries? Lol. Dear lord, I’m sure damaged wires and rusted cables won’t be an issue in the future…. Don’t do what this guy is doing, do it the right way: take off all cables and correctly clean them then reinstall them.
@backshed529510 ай бұрын
Dear lord ! Yes you do pressure clean the batteries . Plastic case so you cant damage them. Wires and cables are also plastic insulated . Not washing batteries is what causes corrosion because your not cleaning the acid residue away after sweating from use and charging . From 2013 to present we have sold between 500-600 carts and thats how ive done every one . You clearly have an issue with your cart if your looking at these type of videos ? Maybe watch them before commenting as i DID take the cables off and clean them and refit them AND then show how to protect them . Good lord
@Bo12346hhgfgdg10 ай бұрын
i didnt say anything about the batteries being damaged did I? Reading comprehension isnt your strong suit. Using a high pressure system on any electronics is a terrible idea for the exact reason i mentioned and you can surely damage the controllers and smaller wires. If this is what you do on "500-600 carts" I can promise you most of them will have issues in the years to come with this mysterious rust issue.... And no, i dont have an issue, i went down a rabbit hole looking at new batteries for a friends cart and wound up here. Youre welcome.@@backshed5295
