In the 60s we used to have the public health nurse come in to the public schools and check everybody for this issue . An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I'm not 100% sure but I think i have body lice due certain signs I've experienced. Aside from that, I've never had a case of head lice even when my kids camp home from school with them. I thought it was chiggers or bed bugs so I went crazy cleaning and spraying but he continues to have bites and itches badly. I've never found an adult lice but I find little tiny black dots on everything( on bed covers, clothes, counter tops, I'll itch and find a black dot almost looks like dirt) some I put between my fingernails and it will pop. Lice is ruining me and my son's life it keeps coming back cuz i don't have the access/cant afford all the things you need like a dryer (most people in nyc can't/don't have em) the rebuying everything, it's unethical for me to work (hairstylist) when I know there's an active infestation. Do you know how to get rid of lice off of head boards that have cloth.
@myliceadvice4403
@myliceadvice4403 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Shelley. Is the head board wood or a cloth head board? For wood head boards yes, you can wipe it down with a wet cloth or a sani-cloth of any kind. It won't kill the lice when you wipe them onto your cloth, but it'll trap them onto the cloth and you can rinse them down the sink or toss them in the garbage. If you have a cloth head board then your best bet is a sticky lint roller. Lint roll the head board and that'll get any lice that may be on there. Don't be surprised if you don't find any lice when you clean the head board. Lice really just stick to the hair of the head. The #1 thing to focus on is getting rid of lice on the hair. That includes killing all of the lice and all of the lice eggs also known as nits. If you want some help with that then check out my step-by-step video system myliceadvice.com/how-to-get-rid-of-lice-like-a-pro/

Remove all the linen and put it in the dryer on high heat for 40 minutes. You can just put the pillow straight in the dryer as well. If you're still freaked that there might be lice on the mattress itself then you can vacuum the mattress or use a lint roller on the mattress. The lint roller is the best. -Theresa, My Lice Advice

Yep, it's the heat that kills them, its not the water that "drowns them." You can't really drown lice, but they are really sensitive to high heat. That's why really hot water or the heat of the dryer will kill them.

What about body lice…..any different advice?
@myliceadvice4403
@myliceadvice4403 11 ай бұрын
The treatment for the house for body lice is very similar to head lice. For body lice you need to put all of your dirty linens and clothing through the dryer as well as vacuum well. Something to consider is that body lice is very rare in most countries, it's almost extinct in developed countries. If you live in a developed country and you find bugs crawling on your skin it's much more likely that you're dealing with bed bugs or scabies. The treatment for bed bugs vs scabies vs body lice is all different. I'd say bed bugs is the hardest to get rid of, and usually requires and exterminator who specializes in bed bugs. Hope this helps!

@@myliceadvice4403 , thank you. I live in low cost housing and often we have people moving in from the shelters. This is body lice for sure…contracted through the central heating system in the building….l have a vent in my bedroom. Doing my best to keep the vent sealed off but need to try another method. If I can’t seal it off then of course, I can’t be treated because the problem is ongoing. I’ve been mopping, dusting and vacuuming at least 3 times a day, hoping to get some sleep without being literally eaten alive….the bites are pretty nasty and I am painfully covered! It’s not bed bugs as I am familiar…also courtesy of the building I live in and not scabies as they do not burrow. They crawl and run really fast! Praying for peace and rest…. I’m not sure how much longer I can take it! 😥🙏🏻

Yeah but the argument that peaple make about bagging clothes for 10 days is that eggs die within a week if they're not in the conditions created by the scalp. So I would guess that if you bag your clothes for only 48 hours, it could happen that an egg can attach to your body again ( while putting the clothes back on ) before dying to then find the perfect conditions to hatch, and then you're back to square one. Am I mistaken somewhere in my reasoning?

I’m not sure if you answer questions here… but we’ve been trying to get rid of lice in our home for 2 months now. I have two boys. During the first round I did shampoo every 7 days, did careful removal of any knits/eggs with a comb every day for two weeks. Bagged all pillows, washed sheets, curtains, blankets, stuffies. Made sure to treat myself and my husband just in case. Replaced our living room rug, mopped all wood floors, bagged or disposed of floor cleaners. They came back two weeks later (only a couple on one son’s head but I repeated all the steps again. Washing, vacuuming, bagging, shampooing, daily combing… I thought we’d done it. They’re back again. It’s now been 2 months. We’ve just shaved one of my sons heads but the other refuses. I can’t find anything on his head but school starts in three weeks… I’m cleaning the house yet again. Please help!! Two werk

Costs about $10 for the spray and it’s non-toxic and super easy to use!!! Sleep with shower caps until you don’t see anymore eggs/bugs! Vacuum/lint roll everything and put everything else in the dryer. That’s it!
