I stupidly went in and cleaned and reassembled my large Sebenza 31 like any other knife and it came out loose and offcenter. A friend online shot me a link to this video, and I redid everything the way Chris showed and now it's perfectly center and dead solid, tight. Thank you sir.

I just got my large 31, natural micarta inlays, today. I absolutely love it! I’ve got the large 21, and large inkosi. I fell in love with that ceramic detent/interface ball on the inkosi. I was overjoyed to hear the 31 was coming out with that same lock system, along with the minor tweaks here and there. Beautiful knife.

Thank you, Tim. I am waiting for my new 31 to arrive ordered directly from your company. After watching numerous sebenza videos, it was always a question in my mind if it made a difference when reassembling the washers back on blade if they could be flipped over for the best fit. I am glad you brought that up and recommend the shiny side toward the blade. Best regards!

I have got my first Sebenza (31 large, black Micarta) en route right now. Very excited, thanks for making this, so glad this knife is designed to be maintained, so many are... designed to keep you out and that is frustrating. I can still take them apart but when they are made to be serviced, it is much more of a joy to do so.

Just a heads up I got my sebenza 31 last week and I carried it every day since. Every chance I got I was opening and closing the knife to break it in. Then I noticed that the pivot screw was missing, lucky I found it under my couch. Oddly enough even with a "floating pivot" the knife was perfectly centered.

When I do this and tighten up not to hard the blade seems to tight. Is it because it's new? My sebenza 21 does not have that problem only the 31 and my 21, both are new. Do I leave the 31 without tightening much and use it a lot till it gets a little wear to it? Any advice is welcome.

I’ve had the same thing happen before. Push the lock bar out and Use some rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip to clean the lock bar face that contacts the blade when locked open as well as the blade itself where the lock bar contacts. I hope that helps!

Thats a date code. A,B,C,D stands for the quarter and the number is the production year. The date codes on the handle do not necessarily match. 😊

"We designed this knife to be easy to disassemble & clean in the field... So the first step is to take the hex Allen wrench to open it up..." Yeah, I carry my hex Allen wrench around with me all the time, especially in the "field." 🤣
@dstnctw21232 жыл бұрын
No offense but I don't think this is the correct way to reassemble. They dont do that when they're assembling assembling for the first time do they? Also it's obviously off center at the end due to the blade scraping the scales as you open and close it.

When the action feels slightly dry, i clean. Or after using it in quite gritty places like the beach or super dusty places where it can get caked in. Clean it when it makes you happy, or when its dirty ;)

I feel odd commenting like this, crazy obsessed with knives as I am... But I spent $550 on a Knife Art exclusive Sebenza and I have to say I am totally not impressed for what I paid. It was fine out of the box and honestly it looks great, but my god the action is horrible. I wasn't expecting like a snappy OTF or anything, but this knife, no matter how many times I tweak it even with step by step KZbin videos, will not work right. I have knives that are literally $50 that have action better than what I paid for. I contemplated sending it back to CRK for maintenance, and still might, but again for what I paid for I'm thinking, "why should I have to drop another $17.50 for repairs?!" I may never buy another CRK again due to this.
@izzybell5502 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if this is your issue or not, but the action is supposed to be a bit on the tight side. I've seen it described as the action on a small hydraulic cylinder. It isn't flippy like knives with a bearing. It is solid and precise

@@izzybell550 After getting the knife back I am pleased that the issues have been fixed, however I've basically double-learned now that Sebenza's are just built differently. They are not meant to be the smoothest of openers and even straight back from the factory it's still naturally tight and odd to open next to the plethora of other knives I own that are not. Despite them having premium materials and their QA seems to be truly great. CRK is a good company, just not my company, I will not be purchasing future knives from them. For the $550 I spent on this I could've gotten two or three Benchmades or Spydercos or any other high end brand and would've been more satisfied with the action. At the end of the day the tool you physically use should be comfortable to you. Whilst holding the actual knife and using it is superb, opening and closing it is the deal breaker for me. They won't miss losing one customer.

These people have chosen not to honor existing orders and the price agreed to in those orders by upping their prices AFTER a lower price had already been accepted. They are hiding behind inflation as an excuse, but if the previous prices were unsustainable then they shouldn't have been offered and agreed upon during order placement. There are countless knife makers that don't participate in this type of disgusting behavior. Don't reward this behavior by giving them your business.
@ReimerKeith Жыл бұрын
No deposit was taken, and the backlog is measured in years. With actual inflation well above 10% a year, there is no way a company can stay in business and absorb years worth of inflation to sell a product at the marked price from years ago.
