Another great video. I was looking for an alternative to cleaning with vinegar.

Enjoying the videos. Love what you do. I’m moving one of my stops into a barn and I’m interested to know how you keep the water in your worm cool. Appreciate what you do brother.

I really appreciate it thanks for watching I have a spring box and I just run a hose into the bottom of my worm and the hot water comes out the top of the worm and onto the ground I don't recirculate water you can also just use your hose pipe with a ball valve to control the flow as long as your average water temperature is below 70°F-80°F it works perfectly when you recirculate water with ice it gets to be a pain in the but 😂 you would be surprised at how little water is actually waisted each run it's not that much

Thanks man I appreciate the video I never thought about seasoning of the pot. If I'm doing multiple runs I just rinse with water but if its gonna set awhile I have a 40 gal barrel of Star San and I submerged all parts for about a hour and then rinse and dry and it looks new and then I put it away till next time. The flavor is awesome soI'm not sure about the "seasoning" of the pot but I cansee what your talking about. I've see other videos that it looks like nothing has ever been cleaned I recon its just a choice. Thanks again man.

Your right it's all personal preference there is a right or wrong way I like my pot seasoned to a point now my pot ain't black or anything I'd never drink anything that came out of it 😂 just a very light tint of almost a tarnish on the inside and that's it that's why I love citric acid it cleans just enough to leave some seasoning behind

551 works awesome brother its a must try if you haven't yet.we do it between runs always because I was under the impression that the cleaner the better but you mentioned seasoning the pot.....hmmmm

It's all personal preference I love a good seasoned copper pot but there is not a wrong way it's all what you prefer try letting it season and see how you like that after each run all I do is Rinse with water and let dry then on to the next run

Do you have a video about cutting heads, tails, hearts I’ve watched some videos about it kinda ain’t making any sense, I just bought the vevor still from a video you done a couple months ago and was wondering if you could make a video explaining that.

They are confusing but I do have that planned it will be a month or so I'm in the middle of the Apple Brandy 2.0 series but if you got the 13 gallon still and you run 10 gallons of mash you will toss at least the first quart as heads then start checking it closely look for the grain or fruit profile to start showing and the burn/acetone smell and it will feel like it evaporates really fast off your hands when rubbed together watch for that to dissipate at most 1 1/2 quarts of heads is plenty for your still heads to me is foreshots also I toss them both together now if I'm doing a brandy then I will keep a tiny bit of late heads to blend in the final product because a lot of your flavor comes off in late heads on a brandy but then collect everything down to 95 proof as hearts and the rest is your tails you will notice a huge difference if you like what your tasting keep it and blend it in your final product a lot of people blend some tails in for flavor but when it starts smelling like wet cardboard or wet dog in away and feels oily to the touch that's the bad tails... tails want hurt you so you can taste them almost always you will make your tails cut at 90-100 proof a proofing parrot like I use helps a lot it tells you your proof in real time as you run I hope this helps makeing cuts varies from what's in your mash to what your starting gravity is this is a starting point that will get you super close when I finish this series i will make a video if you have questions during a run you can reach out to me on FB (Shine Shack)

I used vinegar in mine. . I just run a piece of copper out the door from worm and let it blow outside. I ran mine for an hour with electric element. Rinced it all out and going to do run this weekend

@TheShineshack cleaning is the one thing I worry about. I don't do enough big runs and always have some kind of greenish stuff inside, even after cleaning run. Can't get arm in to wipe down.

So if you use 551 it comes out shiny so I geuss it takes the seasoning out.i wish I could hook you up with a jar sometime...so you could judge for yourself.
@TheShineshack
@TheShineshack 6 ай бұрын
Yeah it does if it's shiny but it's all personal preference I have had awesome likker from a still that is always kept clean like a shiny new penny by all means you don't want it black inside 😂 but a little seasoning is a good thing in my experience anyway you can at the hillbilly jam in Maggie valley 😂
