All my directions say is "The lid and stainless steel strainer can be removed carefully and washed separately." It doesn't say or show how to do it. Thank you for the video, I was afraid I would break it. In the spirit of sharing, the instructions say that it's dishwasher safe, but the company recommends hand washing with mild soap and a non-abrasive sponge. It also says to allow to air dry.

Finally someone actually showed me HOW to get that little stainer out! I have a heck of a time removing it or getting it back in EVENLY. Have tried like you did and it still is lopsided.....Think I'll take it to the store and have THEM remove and replace for ME.

Just a tip for people who don't have a good sink that has a garbage disposal or a wide enough hole to be conducive to tea leaves (I only have the bathroom sink in my dorm to work with) dump the tea leaves that you can get out without rinsing in the trash (I have a separate tiny trash can specifically for tea), once you get out a majority of the leaves, place a paper towel on the bottom of your sink and slowly rinse out the rest of the leaves using the paper towel as a sort of coffee filter. Once all the leaves are out you just through the paper towel away and you won't have to snake the drain :) from there you just wash it like normal!
