I've had my Maytag Neptune Front Loading washer for over 13 years now and I have never had a probem with mold or smells. Two things I do consistently - spray the inside and the door with my DIY disinfectant (CMS recipe) and leave the door wide open when I'm done. My manufacturer suggested that my last wash should be the hotest (i.e. whites), so if I have them I wash them last. My front loader has the traditional button area that resembles a top loader, so I need to do better about cleaning the dispensing area and the top.I've used your previous cleaning routine and will try this one out. I like the idea of cleaning my appliances (washing machine, dish washer) on the first day of Spring and Fall. My dream task - cleaning the gutters. Thanks for the video!

Thank you for this great cleaning tip. I’m cleaning my washer right now. I’ve never used tee tree oil before so I’m sure it will be lovely and fresh. Only downside is I’ve just found out that the self clean program empties out after 5 minutes so all the solution went down the drain very quickly. I’ve selected another program on 70 degrees but it’s only just over an hour long. I hope it still cleans thoroughly. xxx

@happilysmpl
@happilysmpl Жыл бұрын
Most imp - to rinse the sponges and scrubs thoroughky after dishes. Wring it hard and place it on a clean surface. It will dry in few hours. Leaving water soaked it will stay wet and breed microbes. If possible you can place it on window sill in sunlight. Sunlight kills germs.

Me too! I run a 90 degree empty cycle 4-6 times a year and do more thorough cleaning once a year. This seems to work well for me. I do, however live alone (well, with 2 cats but I don't wash them in washing machine 😁), so I only do laundry 1-2 loads a week. It's been pretty much a whole year since I last did a full cleaning to my washing machine, so today I'm going to do it with these advice from the video! 😊

Folding and putting away clean laundry!!!! Every new year it is one of my intentions to practice putting my laundry away as soon as its out of the dryer but alas, it's still something I procrastinate every time. Strange because folding things super neatly and having all of my laundry put away is soooo satisfying to me but I just cannot bring myself to do it in a timely manner EVER!!

Thanks Melissa. Great video. I’m a bit scared to use anything inside my washing machine. The manufacturer, said not to use anything, just run the hottest cycle. The repair man told me the same. I just use a damp microfibre cloth to wipe everything down. I hang clothes on the outside line. They smell fresh that way. I just use the dryer if it’s been raining a lot or to fluff up the towels when they’re still slightly damp. We only have 3 in the house but I wash every day. I think I’d choose either ironing or window cleaning for the butler. I don’t mind doing dishes, or even ironing sometimes but I just hate to face a full basket of ironing.

I think I would have my housekeeper do the dishes. Love this video! I have an old fashion top load washer but I will be trying these techniques. I don't know if I have a gasket or drummer. The think the drummer is at the top. But i definitely don't have a detergent tray. My current aptmt was unoccupied for 2yrs and the washer smells bad of mold. I'm quite sure the old tenants left the lid on the washer when they moved out. Hopefully these methods will work. I will keep you updated.

Hello! I subscribed some time ago, but today is the first video I have watched. You are good! Thank you for informing me to NOT leave washed clothes in the machine...overnight! I do so occasionally but usually run the “rinse only” cycle in the morning. Foolish, I know. Uses more water/electricity and prolongs the laundry task. I’ve found “Iron Out” to be fantastic at making my dishwasher machine look/smell like new! Have you experimented with that product?

I have 4.5yo triplets so I do laundry daily! Linens get washed once a week along with general us towels. Kitchen towels get washed twice a week. I have recently switched to laundry pods because it’s much simpler to store and secure out of reach of children. I generally use vinegar in as fabric softener for linens and towels. I also always do an extra rinse cycle to ensure no soap or grime is left. I normally do a washer clean cycle once a month, and vacuum out the dryer vent twice a year.

What would you suggest to clean the rubber around the entrance of the washing machine?🤔 I wrote this before watching to the end

Thanks so much for the great ideas about cleaning my washing machine. Although there’s only two of us, one member of our household is pretty messy. My imaginary butler would clean my bathroom for the rest of my life! Thanks

I just got a h e washer. I rent so my landlord provides a washer and I had never used one before. It seemed so weird how different the two machines are. I had to read a lot and watch videos to see what others thought. I was shocked what some folks are doing to get more water in their washer. So I started trying different loads of various sizes and types. It is really cool how clean my clothes came out. One part I really like is how well the washer spins out the loads. So I am pro H E!

Hey Melissa, I put the vinegar/tea tree essential oil mix in the detergent cup, and I am currently running the "clean washer with affresh" cycle. (I hope that was the right cycle to run!) Anyway, I have a question about the previous step. I scrubbed the tub with the baking soda/water paste, but I made a huge mess when I tried to get the baking soda out with a wet microfiber cloth. Is that part of the step really necessary, since the next step is to run a cycle? Seems like the cleaning cycle would wash away all of the baking soda anyway. I really enjoyed your video, and I would want someone to dust all of the nooks and crannies under my dining room chairs!

I've been talking to both a washing machine manufacturer and an organic cleaning product manufacturer whilst researching my own tutorial for this: the process in this video is faaaar too complicated and unnecessary - theres a much simpler way!

Cleaned my washer like this today. It is not a front loader so when I leaned my head in I realized that it sinks soooo bad. I didn't realize it. Cleaning it now and it already smells better

First of all, love your t-shirt! Second, love the video. Question if you see this: I recently switched to laundry detergent sheets (Sheetz brand specifically). Do you have an opinion on whether these are as safe to use in terms of sudsy buildup in the drum/machine in general?
