@@toastthecarno6753 dude in the end I ended up just giving up using a vacuum cleaner and a toothbrush again dumping it out on the open side vacuuming brushing vacuuming brushing just over and over shaking it upside down on the open end until everything dumped out and it ended up just working fine

In case you're not comfortable opening it up: Just holding a vacuum cleaner on full power on top of the intakes also works quite well,I've done it before watching this video, and ended up still opening and being pleasently surprised at how well the vacuum worked

Awesome vid mate, I can build pc's but I've always been wary of messing with consoles. This gave me the confidence to strip down and clean my grandson's XBox1, it's now SO much quieter. His dad's a smoker so don't even ask about the state of the fan and heatsink....

@@Dripper_8097 Push down and up on the side one and use a prying tool, not a screwdriver and keep doing the same thing on each clip, push down and away, im not sure why he has you prying at the first one but yeh

Do not use a vacuum cleaner unless you don't plan on starting your xbox for the next 24 hours. When vacuuming dust off electronics. It built up a static charge in the circuitry, which can ruin your console when you turn it back on if you haven't allowed time for it to dissipate.

It is super easier to put back the case if you pop the front off the plastic clips. Set the front in place. Lock in the back and side clips. Then tuck the front clips under the top of the case.

For future reference the front panel pops out from the top casing allowing you to attach the ribbon back so much easier. I wouldn’t have been able to put mine back together again otherwise

Worked like a charm I accidentally disconnected some wires but was able to put them back. Turned on Xbox and was a black screen after troubleshoot, I unplugged Xbox from wall held the power button down 30 seconds and it started right up. Thanks again !

Done this took a bit of time to get case back on, my power button doesn't work now so may have knocked it. But power on via controller works fine. Thank you for the video seems to running great so far(should add i fixed the power button issue as described in the video with the little tab connector) happy to say all back to normal and not sounding like a jet taking off under my tv

Brill video,nice n simple. Bit missing at end : unclip the two clips of fan on one side then slide fan off to opposite side releasing the other 2 clips. Lift fan off,clean underneath and get access to the heatsink now with a vaccuum cleaner.

My Xbox has been uses almost daily since it first came out. Might try some of this to see if I can improve it as i can hear the fan starting to struggle, that might be a fault thought as the start sound no longer works

Personally I’d use a set of plastic Bojo tools. They’re designed to remove internal car trim and won’t scratch up your Xbox like metal screwdrivers and such will.

I must've been doing keeping my environment clean enough. I've had mine since release and haven't had any overheating problems... hell, haven't had any problems at all. Surprisingly, my vents were also not that filthy.

Hi thanks for the video.. was a huge help.. however I didn't have anything to open the screws.. as I've had it years and will be replacing it soon. As a temporary fix I snapped off the remaining plastics on side to allow access to better clean the vents there. Then cut a hole (3 sides of a square) pealed that back and used a soft brush to clean the fan and blades. Hoover to remove dust.. and then pushed the mesh back into place.. xbox seams to be so much better now. And runs a lot smoother and quieter and doesn't overheat/turn off.. however I've only recently done this so I will have to update you if this continues being the case
