Great vid. The only other tip (and very important) is to round the edges on your tape. Will prevent peeling back.

Just finished and took me slightly over 3 hours total. This process was much easier than expected as long as you take your time. I can barely feel the seam on the top tube and down tube. The bubbles continue to work their way out as the film dries more. Excited to put my Kai Venture bags back on with the added protection!

If you still have bubbles, after its dried for 24 hours, pop them with a fine sewing needle, and apply a bit of heat.

Thomas Frishi's shop in Switzerland has all his World Champs winning Ritchey bikes And several Ritchey road bikes he uses for commuting I was admiring them then realised he had totally covered them in heli tape, so well that you could not tell, even very close up - I had to feel the join under the top tube before I was sure. Then I looked around and saw Frishi behind me watching. Cool guy, talked ages about everything bike related. Got home and bought an 86 Ritchey bike based on that, great bikes

I did this on my fixed gear but I used a kit from Amazon that came in various sizes it looks good but I have some parts of the bike that aren't covered because the bike is larger a 61 cm. One thing that concerns me is when I take it off will the paint be faded on the parts that weren't covered?
@LockedinCycling4 жыл бұрын
if its clear I doubt the color would be different, I mean maybe after 5 years of riding, and depending on what color your frame is

@LockedinCycling3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. 1. Ask the place since every one may be different , 2. If you do that the film one lay around the decal well and you’ll have a white edge, decals over it will look better but can get rubbed off

The only issue that I see with this is that unfortunately, sunlight will impact the paint (ie areas will age differently and unfortunately it won't be possible to correct for that.
