My daughter has an iPad with 32 gigs. Storage was full. We deleted almost everything, yet the “other” was filled with over 20 gigs. Did extensive research on this issue. Had to restore it. Apple is absolutely pathetic for not addressing this issues. They constantly create superfluous nonsensical additions in iOS updates, yet cannot tackle a serious problem. 😶

They just want you to buy another product from them. But I think the only way to truly erase the "Other Storage" is to erase your phone or tablet over and over again! I'm doing it and the storage is getting lessened little bits at a time like 100-200 MB, but I don't know if it'll work entirely, I'm still trying it out!

People are always saying ios is better than android but in reality android is much better at reducing gigabyte usage and much better with less lagg Tho in my opinion neither is better just comes down to preference and what needs you have cus they also have their own separate uses

I just deleted 15gb worth of videos and photos, only to gain like 6gb storage space. I was suspecting this has been happening for ages since I wasnt able to have so many apps anymore, so I took screenshots before deleting and found out how the space is not increasing accirding to the 15gb I deleted. This is pathetic. But tbh my old samsung android tablet did the exact dame thing, I had to factory reset all the time to actually gain back the storage space.

I deleted lots of home videos, apps etc and still had that message pop up… then I found out apparently the iphone/ipad saves a backup to restore or somehting like that, but when you turn your phone off and back on again, you’ll see the available storage room go up, cause it has been deleted!

@AndrexZxms turn off and restart your phone after deleting! After deleting, not just from my camera roll, but also from the trash bin in the photos app, I checked the storage indicator bar in settings - general - iphone storage, but nothing changed… only after my battery had died and It was charging and I checked the storage again, did I see a change in amount of gb left, so restarting always work on my phone to actually clear storage!

I am too scare of resetting my iPad and the only reason why is because (this is a completely true story btw) Alright I had a let’s say…. About 2-3 year old iPad and it was pretty good! Which people do but it causes the "other" cache in the data to fill the drive and still causes the thing do the screen spin marry-go-round and crash due to lack of space. I never said that backing up and reseting the thing wouldn't fix it mainly due to say at the end the guy says the "nothing short of a factory reset" wipes the cache clean :D But you are so right on the icloud storage cause go to an apple store and they try like hell to get you to buy it. Another thing that might help is syncing it to iTunes just in case there is corrupted data that a sync can fix. The problem with restoring is that sometimes that other stuff gets backed up too, so once you restore from back up other might be the same. The nuclear option is to restore and set up as new which sucks I know.

These companies should have one eMMC/UFS storage chip just for their respective Firmware OS, and another eMMC/UFS chip just for user data.

@Rob Odd That's what the two integrated flash storage chips are for. One strictly for the OS Firmware, and the other for the User Storage. For the OS Storage chip, 64 GB is enough room for the base OS, and all future updates and patches. The User Storage chip needs to be at least 8× more storage capacity than the OS Storage chip (i.e.: If the OS Storage chip has 64 GB, the User Storage chip must have 512 GB in it, and every single GB cannot be assigned anywhere else other than for User Storage.)

What I learned from being an Apple user for years is that you need an iCloud Storage subscription to avoid this inconvenience. It makes everything easily accessible, specially when you’re in that ecosystem. And you won’t need to buy the highest storage of iPhone/iPad/Mac ~ 128GB w/ iCloud Storage Sub is what I would recommend

I recently got this message for the first time. I was surprised to learn that all the podcasts I have been listening to simply remain on my iPhone and were taking up so much space. The best way is to go into the individual settings for each subscription and choose to only keep the most recent episodes on the device. iOS recommends keeping the 3 most recent episodes which I selected for most of the subs and GBs of storage was reclaimed.

Yep, that was our problem. Auto-download on Podcasts. Nearly 10GB of them!! Stay subscribed but just turn off the auto-download feature within each podcast title. Made a huge difference for us.

I had a similar issue and when visiting the Apple store near me. They advised me to sign out of my iCloud account, do a hard restart then sign back into my iCloud account.. those steps cleared out the issue I had which was 50GB+ of others/system iCloud storage

Don’t forget to delete your “Deleted” photos for good! They are saved in an album that allows you to recover or permanently delete photos and never get them back again. Photos, slide down, recently deleted, delete any photos left.

I've done multiple resets on my 32GB iPad 8 running iPadOS 15.0.2, but the other STILL takes up huge chunk of my storage... It is mostly from a game called Genshin Impact, but the "Other" storage NEVER went above 4.5GB for me when I was on iPadOS 14.8. Now, the storage shows me that the game itself takes about 3.2GB (app size) and it seems that all of its cache data and files are dumped into "Other" category, making that part of size to be huge. Is this just a bug on iOS/iPadOS 15 in general? I just cannot seem to find a way to clear this :(

I delete so many photos in my camera roll but it still says I have no storage. The same thing happened to my best friend, at this point she has 1 photo and like 2 apps. I just bought 200 GB worth of iPad storage, and it still says my storage is full. But the thing is my categories is only photos and apps. And I only have like 40 photos. My mom has more than 1000 photos and her storage is not full. Explain!!

I have even bigger issue: to clean / delete iCloud iMessages data specifically when using more synced devices. This is pure struggle and one of the biggest Apple’s issues for people with basic iCloud 5GB storage...

Just another reason why I prefer anything but Apple, when I delete things off my Android phone they don't magically go to an "Other" storage folder that you cannot manually delete. Apple Support gives the same lame suggestions; "restart your device", "clear your Safari cache", "Update your iOS", or "Reset your device". I had a friend who ran into this issue about 10 years ago, I fixed it but now can't remember what I did. But after updating the iOS, clearing cache, restarting the device numerous times, Syncing via iTunes, with no progress I am just shy of resetting it. What a fucking joke. Billion dollar company can't figure out a user friendly way to implement how to clear out temp files. Bogus. I guess the next step is to watch CNN and Fox News to get unbiased and objective journalism, that will complete the mentality of absolute ridiculousness.
