Claude, By now I'm sure that you have discovered the three Library files on your Mac. The first is visible in the open directory of the Hard Drive. An other one is in the System folder, also in the open directory of the Hard Drive. It is in fact the only visible file in the System folder, there are many more files there but they are invisible. The third Library is in the User Home folder and is rendered invisible. This is the Library that you make visible by using Finder > Go menu > Go to folder… . The symbol ~ means that you have a File Path that begins at ROOT the symbol / means that you are at your Home Folder Library of course is your destination folder and /Cache is a folder within the Home Library folder. You do a great service to the Mac community by your videos. Keep up the good work

Hi jazzfire - Caches simply store pages that load from your own machine to save time. The reason to clear a cache is that there is often some of the cache pages are no longer relevant and take up memory. So clearing a cache is not about losing data since the data in online. I wouldn't worry about losing data by clearing a cache. Hope this helps.

It helps with any Apps making mess on your systems installation.
@ClaudePelanne112 жыл бұрын
Hi Kim - sounds like a connectivity problem with your provider or internet modem. Try shutting every thing down. Reboot your Internet modem from your provider and then rebooting. You should also empty the cache on your computer and the cache of your browser. See if that works. Good luck. PS.. it may be a problem with an extension in your browser. you can turn off all the extensions and then see if the problem goes away. If it does you turn them on one by one to find the culprit. That's it.

is it ok to delete all the caches?
@ClaudePelanne19 жыл бұрын
Merul Hazim Caches hold temporary files that allow you to load web pages faster. However over time some web sites and software programs are updated and load in new temp files. Sometimes old cached files can conflict with updated ones and it takes time for the program to find the relevant temp file. Thats why tech support will clear caches before they try to solve a problem. Often clearing cache files is all that is needed. PS you also want to clear the cache of your browser from time to time. Hope this helps.

@ClaudePelanne110 жыл бұрын
HI Nathan- To get to the secure empty trash you hold down the command key simultaneous to clicking the trash. The thing is the secure empty trash takes a long time to process, at least on my imac running Yosemite. So I also do a simple empty trash if I want to save time. This doesn't clear the sectors of the data but simply overwrites them. The secure empty trash will clear the data completely but it takes more time. Thanks for the comment.
