I agree with the last lesson, it happened to me recently, I tried a boulder that was too hard, I couldn't hold the crimps more than 2 moves. I decided to try it multiple times to train my body to failure, knowingly. I knew there was a chance somewhere that multiple sessions later I would improve, inch by inch. After 2 more weeks of trying, last session, I topped. I didn't even plan to top, I kept trying and failing, but each time a little bit higher until I surprised myself topping it. I plan on continuing climbing the same boulder until I top it easily. What I mean is that when you're sure it's too hard for you, then, try again, its the perfect place to get better, don't shy away. Keep at least a couple or more of seemingly impossible boulder at your local gym that you diligently try each time. Last few month I had so much pleasure topping these ones, they are like candy. Then even better climbers might be happy to see your beta cause lesser climber sometimes find better betas by necessity.

This is very useful to a V8 climber who was just falling off some of these V6 boulders last weekend 😬 I guess you can never be TOO mindful of the way you apply technique 😶 Still very excited for the V7-V8 comparison, though I feel like V6-V7 will also be incredibly helpful 😅 Please keep it up!

Hey Zach one thing I tend to notice with a lot of climbing tutorials videos, is that a lot of KZbinrs would leave out the value of stretching. Someone might not be able to do a proper heel hook bc they just lack open hip flexibility, hamstring and ankle flexibility as well.

Surprisingly good video! Not just saying the common-sense non-advice things that everyone else said a million times :) Regarding the micro-bicycle, I'm wondering about that... I'm a V8-9 climber and I probably would've climbed it exactly as you did on your first attempt 😅 In each position to set up the bicycle, you need to bring your core/hips closer to the wall to make the bicycle useful and make sure your foot sticks. I feel like the amount of core tension required, and in general the overall tension requiring to hold your breath to engage your core, is not really worth it.
@kiwising306212 күн бұрын
Really helpful video thanks a lot! I find it really hard for me to keep tension in my feet so they don’t slipp away on the first boulder, overhangs are not my favourites routs😅

Really helpful tips, I 've been climbing for just about a year now and I 'm currently projecting around V5-V6 and I love this new "newbie/intermediate training" series. I always try to implement these tips in my climbing sessions and it's usually super helpful. Keep up the grade work, take us to V17! By the way, and sorry for the sudden change of subject, I just wanted to ask something extra . I just got a herniated disc and it's mildly painful sometimes during the day (when I 'm crouching mostly). I 'll go to a doctor to tell me exactly what to do, but what would you suggest me to do when it comes to climbing intensity? For now I 'm just climbing with caution and I 'm always downclimbing when I 'm reaching the top of a boulder but is that enough? Should I avoid doing moves that require tight or rotating core such as steep climbs for example? I 'm just asking for your opinion on this of course, I know you 're not a health professional.
@richardsonsclimbing20 күн бұрын
Oh man that sounds rough, yeah I really don’t have any knowledge on this but my only advice would be to avoid doing anything that even slightly sketches you out. If you’re considering avoiding twisting moves I’d say it’s best to listen to that insinct!

How do I get pumped less quick? I’m only a V3 climber and I feel like I get pumped super quick.
@PirateGrenade18 күн бұрын
For me this was just a combination of applying more technique, and just climbing more. You will build endurance over time as you climb more. But being more efficient will help you get there faster. Use your legs. Use your toes. Straight arms whenever possible. Apply effective body position. Avoid over-gripping. Prepare mentally first by route-reading so you can make quick and decisive decisions on the wall. You can also try learning top rope. You'll build endurance much faster and feel better coming back to bouldering.

Look, I can't say for sure, because I didn't try to climb these boulders, neither I touched the holds, but where I usually climb, in London, these would be max V5, and I mean max, because some look V4. I am pretty sure if I climb in that gym I can at least do V7, if not V8. I am looking forward to see V7 and V8. And just to be clear, I climb in the same gym where Magnus was struggling on a V6. So the V6 I climb are very hard, and these do not look V6 to me. Now, since I am not expert, I do not know if these should be called V6, or if V6 are effectively harder than this. Just saying these look boulders I can flash, or send quite easily.
