I am a stickler for color control too. I separate my cakes/skeins of yarn the same way you do. When crocheting, especially a C2C blanket I love to color control. I want the change in colors to change at a certain point and be consistent thru-out the project. Yaay!!! Glad to know I was doing it correctly👍🏾 Thanks for sharing.

I have to color control when making sweaters for all the panels, blouses, jackets, etc., not so much for scarves, blankets. I used Caron Latte cakes to make one of Crystals sweaters, didn't do it (and I should have) to the back panel, but did for the 2 front panels and both sleeves, even the cuffs of the sweater and pockets. For me, it just looks more put together with color control...Thanks Crystal for sharing, it's always good to get a "refresher".

I think color controlling is an important tool especially if you’re looking for consistency. I just finished watching all 9 Yarn 101 Education videos and have to thank you for all the valuable information in each video. I know making videos is time consuming but I honesty appreciate all your hard work. As a beginner I feel more confident when making a project…thanks Crystal🙏🏻. I just need to get a set of hooks and more yarn because I really do love to crochet. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us🙏🏻

Thanks Crystal! Color controlling is especially useful for when you want to put a solid or consistent color as a border. I primarily use Mandala Ombre and pull one out one color to use as the border. I too wish they would make some solids to match their ombres, even if in small cakes.

The 1st sweater I made was one from your tutorials and I used Caron Cake cookie crumble and I colors controlled it somewhat. There were a few places that there was a break in the colors, but not to bad. Now the sleeves I did. I made the sweater for my husband and he LOVES it. I think he's afraid to wear it because he thinks he'll do something to it. Lol Thank you for this video. You're awesome. Stay safe. Xoxo 😘💖

The O’Go is great for color control, I’ve made a couple of hats with it and I love it. Funny when O’Go first came out I said I wouldn’t buy it because I thought it was gimmicky, but then I watched Marley Bird’s video make a fair isle hat and I was hooked. I like the Big Donut and the Colorama 😀👍🏻

Yeah I’m not a fan of the donut shape but they’re so easy to break apart and they have beautiful color combinations. I never would have thought about buying one until Daisy Farm Crafts made a beautiful hat with one. It just never occurred to me to break the colors apart. Duh.
