I love your videos so much! I just finished watching your candlelight video and I learned so much! I bought all of these books on coloring (not the special effects kind) but nothing beats hearing someone explain something...and you do it so well! I think your art is unique. I love the edginess. I keep thinking of other things I would like to see in a video/tutorial (take them or leave them - I tend to get so excited and go overboard so don't mind me): 1. A reflection on water. Actually, most of what I'm thinking about now is potential illustrations I would love to color. I get a little bored these days with the gorgeous princess-like illustrations. I love them and I want to color them but I'm saturated with everyone's coloring of them. I also struggle with giving them personalities to make them stand out. But what if they already had "personalities"? Here are some characters I love and flip out when an artist provides illustrations of that nature: 1. Women who are not posing but doing something interesting (anything!) 2. Styles rarely seen: Cyberpunk (I love Steampunk but I fear the coloring world will be saturated with Steampunk soon so cyberpunk would be a nice change); grungy; Cowboys (or rather Cowgirls) but with a twist like a Zorro-like figure or a female Mexican cowboy (just not a Christy Brinkley cowgirl!); it would be nice to have women portrayed as artists (painting, drawing, sculpting...) - I actually thought of that awful movie Ghost (Demi Moore & Patrick Swayze - sorry if you liked it - too many tears for me) and I think it would be nice to have a woman at a pottery wheel making something (it could be sexy and intense). 3. Shaman-like women from different cultures (not witches - more tribal). 4. A character based on the French puppet/doll Pierrot (it's been done but I go for it every time). 5. Venetian Carnival scenes. 6. Circus mermaid (like the dolphins in captivity - the illustration could portray the sadness...) 7. For Steampunk...I really love that new show on Amazon Prime called Carnival Row...very inspiring! 8. Anything mixing animals and humans as separate entities or a human morphing into an animal or possessing an "animal soul" (not sure how you would go about it...my imagination is running a little wild). You are such an inspiring artist and you seem to see the world differently which makes for very interesting illustrations/art. I wish I had a ton of money so I could buy all of your books all at once but in Canada, your books are a tad expensive...so one at a time.

Thank you for this video! I love the way you explain your techniques and why you are doing everything a certain way. I was following a tutorial by another artist who was coloring water with ripples in it. They went back to using their first three colors to deepen the effect but didn't explain why. I couldn't understand why they just didn't make the colors darker the first time. You did the same thing with the crystal and explained about giving it translucent depth, and I had a big breakthrough! I also think your suggestions for using a Q-Tip or toothpick/pencil with white gel pens are great and can't wait to try them.
