A long time ago (in one of your videos) you said something like, "when you think you've ruined it, keep going." I think that is exactly what you did during this video. There were moments when you didn’t like the results you were getting. But you kept going until it was amazing! Perseverance works. Thanks for sharing the whole process...even the things that didn't turn out the way you expected/wanted initially. Stunning.

Fun to watch you Luise! Here’s a hint for you, only partially roll the die thru the machine, just where you want to cut, then you won’t get the embossing. Of course this only works on one end or the other, but would work in your case here. You can also only put the top plate over the area you want pressure on to cut. 😉

It was so interesting watching your process and working out how to add or change what you did to get a lovely finish. Amazing job.
I watched your video yesterday hoping for ways to colorize the Tim Holtz paper dolls. You inspired me to watch additional creators and their methods on “how to “. I think I found the simplest method for me to color these paper dolls after finishing up 2 of them. Prepping the paper dolls with clear gesso is a must! Then take water-based coloring markers and add your colors. The colors are transparent enough the folds and highlights show through without having to do heavy highlighting. Even the very dark parts of the clothing picked up the color. I was quite surprised and quite pleased. Plus there was no need to deal water, paints, ink, etc., it was a mess free process for me. LOL this method may not be very artistic but it will work well for my needs. Thank you for the inspiration to explore the idea of coloring the paper dolls.

That's great colouring in. I love the subtle technique The rule about blush,(rouge), is that it should not go lower than the nose but is on the apple of the cheek and is softly blended. However if she was Korean in wedding attire she would have very distinct red circles on her cheek. I was a model back in the 70s and still love playing with makeup. In the 30s and 40s black and white photos were carefully coloured. My mothers wedding photos were done like this. I have also a photo of me as a flower girl when I was two that has been coloured. Colouring black and white photo's was a full time job for mainly women during the 40s through to the 60s. I think the big white book title dominates and becomes the focal point. The white splatters do help. I wondered if you whitened her forehead to balance out the white label and make her the focal point again. I love how your set ideas get blown out of the water when you experiment and play. I think this makes you a more dynamic person that your aversions can shift to become preferences or more on that preference end of the continum.

I didn’t know there was clear gesso. I usually spray things like paper dolls with a clear matte spray called Mr Super Clear. I got that idea from a You Tuber who repaints dolls. She removes the paint from the face of, say Barbie, and then sprays Mr Super Clear and then her pencils will grab. I got mine from Amazon, Hobby Lobby and more recently a model making shop my husband dragged me to. They use it to make plastic models less shiny/slick. It dries really quickly and because it’s spray, it’s even and fine. Everything that company makes is called Mr something. 🤷♀️
