How to Paint ANY Character Illustration in 6 Steps (Start to Finish): kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5KlkGyEZsynrKM To Colorize a layer in Photoshop you can use the Ctrl + U function, it will open a Hue/Saturation pop up menu, and there will be a tiny button saying 'colorize'! "lighting does not always need to be volumetric" is actually a great tip. i always obsess too much about the lighting being accurate, to the point where ill make the drawing look worse just because "then the shading makes more sense" also honestly i have been using some of these effects, but often the effects (like adding a gradient) end up being way more powerful than the actual shading and the actual shading becomes barely noticable lol. though this usually only happens when i actually render a character, not with cell shading
@ManuMercurial
@ManuMercurial Жыл бұрын
for suresies! I've found the key with all this is to use it subtly. And the shading tip for non-volumetric shading has saved me a lot of pain in animation haha. Best of luck!

I dabble on digital art before and tried producing several illustration while I had decent line, colouring is a whole different skill bracket especially on shading. While there is always tutorial on implementing certain function/features I always feels lacking in understanding on broader view by only using by learning it case by case basis. Alway loved these kind of tutorial which clear and concise with practical application as a whole picture.

This video was extremely helpful. Whenever I shaded I found myself tunnel visioning on separate parts of my character resulting in shading that does not look harmonious with the environment. It comes to show, yet again, that simplification is key to drawing anything.

I love your art tutorials because they’re so informative ❤️ If possible, I’d really like to see some tutorials on these topics: *1)* *Specular Highlights* (How would you do *glossy surfaces?* What color would you pick for these *highlights* in different lighting scenarios? Would you make them totally white, or would you add a hint of another color to them? How can we pick a *color* for *specular highlights* on the color wheel?) *2)* How can we paint *Bounce Light?* *3)* How should we go about painting *Subsurface Scattering?* These are some important Light & Color topics that I really want to learn more about. Thank you 😊
