Thanks for subscribing and following my reefing journey. Coming from the fresh-water aquascaping side of the hobby, I hope to add value and an alternative perspective to things every now and then.
In this video, I discuss why adding nutrients is important for corals.
We are always told to keep our nitrates and phosphates low, but that is not always the best advice if we are not adding nutrients into our aquarium. I believe keeping nutrients low is a good default but we need to continually add bursts of nutrient-rich food for our corals. Even if our systems take up nutrients quickly, it is also important to carbon dose since that helps feed the bacteria that corals feed on.
High import high export! Low default baseline.
Please be reminded that my advice applies to my own system and there are many ways to achieve the same result.
Current NO3= 3ppm - 10ppm
Current PO4 = 0.03-0.06ppm
