Thank you for this! This way doesn'tkeep each document separated so some extra work - I hope that's the only problem. I have about ten different docs that need to be combined. I can't believe MS hasn't made it super simple as it seems that this is something people need to do frequently. Also the other problem is that some docs are formatted differently and I need to keep the margins and formatting as in original..... so I guess I'm going to just have to figure out a different way. This is messy. Needed to do some formatting before combining as a big PDF so either way it's not simple. If you have a workaround to format each page as originally intended please let us know!

This is so true!!!! I have wondered about creating a TOC and have each document's name organized in the TOC. But this would not help the problem of needing different formatting for each doc.

I convert original docx files into PDF separately, then use ilovepdf website to merge them, very simple without loosing any formatting, Microsoft needs to solve this basic issue.

If your pages are overlapping, insert a page break on one of the documents you want to combine, then follow the whole process shown in the video but only select the other document u wanted to combine

@Techi Tube Could you help me with linking text document together with a hyperlink kind of way. So lets say i have a main document 1 and like 5 extra documents. I want to link these all together in my main document. But i want to edit them if i can. I saw someone doing it this way. But I don't know how exactly. I, also, would like to do this. This would be awesome! I hope someone replies with an answer. I would like to add that I would love to have the main document to be in the recent files list in Word, and other Office programs. I really would love to be able to add folders to the recent files list, or some kind of grouping. These don't have to be the same folders as in Windows Explorer. I just would like to be able to group files with specific subject to not have to scroll thru so many recent files to find the one I want.

Good question. I don't thing Microsoft will change the formatting of the documents after you combine them. Let me know, If you happen to experience combining docs with different formats.
