I really enjoy that you emphasize building a good foundation before marriage, instead of just focusing on the fun frilly stuff.

He loves you so so preciously, and I’m sure you love him the same. I love seeing happy and healthy marriages as I didn’t grow up with happily married parents. I am getting married next year and I love all of your videos.

Hello there and thanks for the awesome video! My wife and I have been married for over 4 years. We're looking for ways to combine finances and create a joint budget and we want to try what you've suggested here. The thing is, we had a wonderful wedding and don't need to buy a guide for wedding planning. Would you be able to make the bonus content regarding creating a joint budget available for purchase separate from the wedding guide? It would be much appreciated!

This is a great video! I just wanted to share something..Every couple/relationship is different.. my fiance and I have been together 4 years and living together for 1 year.. we will be married July 2021. For us we decided together that we want to keep separate bank accounts and finances. We have different spending habits ( I love shopping at dollar tree and goodwill.. I'm very frugal. And he spends thousands of dollars on truck parts and toys.. he just bought us a quad and a boat) He makes more money than me so thats why he does that.. and this last year living together has worked great as is so we will keep it this way. We have some people supporting our decision and others argue that its wrong to do that if you are married. I say do what works for you and your relationship! I'm excited that he can save up is own money to buy us new toys and I use my money to buy groceries and affordable furniture/home decor to DIY and clothes for us! Everyone is happy! 🥰🙌

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. My partner feels like it’s unfair if one of the spouses spends a lot because he/she can, while the other needs to be frugal, if they live together. So he wants to have a joint account (and also individual accounts for spending money). Also, sorry to ask, but how did you buy a home? Given the discrepancy in your salaries? I’m asking you these questions just because we’re facing these issues and no one knows what to advise us on this matter. Thanks in advance! 💜

@@cindy846 It was definitely a process to buy our home. It took us 5 months to find and buy our house.. My fiancé is 26 and he is an engineer and had been saving up money since we met.. he refused to live in an apartment or rental. He wanted to move out of his parents house into a home. I'm 24 and a licensed hairstylist but i changed career path so now I'm preschool teacher. So yeah big salary differences. He was the one who saved up and paid the down-payment and also his parents helped us tremendously with house hunting and the whole process and also his dad also co signed since we are first time home buyers. Again... we did what worked for us.. and i get not everyone can do it how we did. We did have a few family members who did not agree with this. They told me I was stupid/naive and other bad names for moving into a house without my name on the deed or not being married....let alone 4+hours away from our families. Well we did this because we wanted to..it was a goal we had and it wasn't easy. It's challenging to purchase a home when your not married and also if I added my salary to his we wouldn't have the house we have.. we were able to purchase the home of our dreams because we chose to do things our way.. and have his parents help..since their house has been payed off for a few years. Do what works for you. Even if you can't afford it there are ways..trust me! And we are happy with our decision, I would do it again in a heartbeat!

@@Mrs.Hunk206 Thanks for your answer. It’s not that we can’t afford it, it’s just that I’ll probably be the one making more money and I don’t want to be taken advantage of given that we’re not married... I would need your partner’s perspective lol

Kyle and Eric, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and creativity! We learned so much from your amazing video! Thumbs way up. 👍🏼 At 5:09 you mentioned you based each partner's contribute on income. I’m wondering, how was that split calculated? On Gross Pay or Take-home Pay (after taxes, benefits, pension, IRAs, etc.)? This would be very helpful to know as many couples have a steady paycheck income and that may be easier to calculate than couples who are business owners. Please let me know and keep up the incredible work! 👏🏼

Hey Roberto! I would recommend doing it on take-home pay - that way you are factoring in if one person is paying for both of your insurance once you get married!

such a helpful video! My fiance and I are getting married in ~2 years and I found your channel trying to get my head around wedding planning too, thank you! I really like the joint checking account, but my fiance and I like using credit cards cause of the rewards we accumulate. Does anyone have any ideas how to make the joint checking account work with a credit card instead?
@TheUnveiledBride
@TheUnveiledBride 3 жыл бұрын
For us, we found that the rewards actually aren’t worth it, unless you are paying the card off completely every single month. If you are very disciplined you could use a credit card and just have a separate one for joint stuff, or assign one person’s card as the joint one then the other person would just transfer the money to you so you could pay the card off each month.

What do you do about credit cards? I want my husband and I to combine our credit cards and share them so we can get the optimal rewards back but how would we allocate our "fun money"? I hate the idea of spending fun money from separate accounts like debit cards. I would rather spend the money on our credit cards so we get the points back but then it would be hard to track if we are on budget for our fun money. Anybody have tips for this?
@etevolve
@etevolve 2 жыл бұрын
You can put the fun money in an account at the same place where your cash back/rewards cards are. For instance, let's say your credit card is from Discover, they also have checking and savings accounts. The benefit of that is you look at how much cash you have to spend when you log in and you know exactly how much you can charge based on that amount. And you also make sure that amount coincides with the budget. As for combined credit cards, just add each other as authorized users. Create an account as a rewards account and redeem rewards to that account.
