Very useful lesson...in my DIY manner I isolate 3 notes from a scale....say Phrygian, that will have 5 positions to explore along the neck; so then I have a series of 'triads'..I then associate standard chords on each positions. I then have a progression to practice to which I can add extra notes from the original scale I was looking at to colour and enrich. I wouldn't know all the notes names I play - that pisses me off quite a bit - but the end result is often interesting and let's me practice a riff with melody and lead fragments....if I make sense! I only have basic notions of theory but I see shapes and patterns on the neck....like geometrical shapes, I repeat them and slightly alter them and I get something to get lost into. I do this for different scales. Pattern and shapes often overlap and are shared between chords and scales...so shape = sound. It may sounds heretic to musicians but I get to practice a lot more in this way and I get a sense of discovery. Thanks mate it is always interesting what you dispense. Moi! 👽🤘

at 9:40 when you talk about scales, are you talking about the scale of that specific chord? or the scale of the key that the chords are diatonically fitting in? Wasnt sure if all these chords and extra notes being played were all diatonic to 1 key.
