Thank you Derek... Your vids are really informative and useful for both newbies and experienced guys like me. Sharing knowledge for growth is one of the most precious gift that we as human beings can give. Ignore the negatives as their lives must be extremely difficult... Keep up the good work fella and you and your family stay safe.

Yes, you are spot on about sharing knowledge.......most people enjoy learning things and it's our curiosity that helps make our world an interesting place ! I take my hat off to Derek - he's a star for making these videos. Even experienced engineers can learn from these - those that don't think they can't learn anything anymore that is.......You can teach an old TomKat new tricks ! If he were'nt so far away I would go to his establishment for my next ACS assessments.

Great video. Thanks for your good work. I think it’s worth mentioning, that what you mentioned in the video regarding the Benchmark mostly applies to England and Wales mate. Most of this applies in Scotland too but not regarding notifying building control or gas safe, also smart controls and weather comp etc not mandatory.

This is gold. Cracking video. Each step explained clearly. So lucky to have you as my teacher 😎. When you did the working pressure at the meter you opened the tap at full rate with the hot water at the boiler on maximum. Do you also have to put the heating on maximum too? Working pressure at the appliance in hot water and heating. Not high and low. Interesting! Thanks Derek 👍🏻 Asian Jon. Training.

Thanks Derek, great video. Quick question, regarding delta T and flow rate temperature. If the temperature is lower than expected in MI’s for example, 35degree rise for 10.4 l/min flow rate can it be adjusted in line and if so how? Thanks. Rich

Hello Derek, your videos are great. I have a question about Ideal Logic Max combi boiler. MI says to check working pressure at gas cock test point not appliance inlet, but pressure drop from gas meter to gas cock test point is more than 1mb. As far as I know they don't give a minimum drop permissible at gas cock test point. I would appreciate your thoughts!
@tomkatgastraining4 жыл бұрын
Jaime Damascena the test point at the inlet gas valve is where you have your 1 mbr drop and the test point on the gas valve is to the manufacturers instructions for the pressure drop across the appliance

If when doing service the inlet has more then mb- it could be because of pipe work or blockage but would you AR?

Hi Derek. How comes your working pressure at the meter is lower then inlet pressure at the appliance?
@tomkatgastraining3 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t it was 21 at the meter and 20 at the boiler on hot water you might be looking at the heating inlet
@valentynchyk3 жыл бұрын
@@tomkatgastraining My understanding was while checking inlet pressure HW an CH were operating at the same time. If it's separated then it makes sense. Thanks

Hi Derek, at 24mins in the video, the hot water temperature test failed right or is it ok? You only got a 30 degree rise (delta T) although you were testing at a flow rate of 10.5l/min which should have been at least 35 degree rise (delta T)
@tomkatgastraining3 жыл бұрын
It’s ok it’s just tell you what it is doing to help you make a judgment on if the boiler it working correctly and you are happy with it

Great video Derek, only video I’ve seen on KZbin going in depth of commission procedure, so just to clarify.. I know we’re allowed 1mb drop fro. Meter to appliance on working pressures.. if the MIs state different .. eg.. WP at meter is 22mb and working pressure at boiler is 19mb.. obviously this is 3mb drop/loss.. I’d bee saying undersized gas pipe or restriction etc and would be saying investigate.. BUT if the MI state minimum inlet WP at boiler is 18mb.. would this be totally acceptable an override the 1mb drop/loss that I’ve been taught.. Only wanting to clarify this as I’ve seen boiler with the more than 1mb drop and I’ve explained to customers/landlords that issueS with pipe-sizing or blockages an needs investigating.. most landlord think I’m trying to have them on.. ..thanks again great fantastic video .. gone well into depth on the commissioning an very informative Thanks
@tomkatgastraining4 жыл бұрын
Tommy Blackman the I 1 mbar drop is between the meter and the test point at the inlet isolation valve. If you are testing at the gas valve you look at mi this is only for condescending boilers not other gas appliances. Hope that helps and thanks for watching cheers
@tommyblackman71194 жыл бұрын
Ok thank you, so what if boiler doesn’t have a test point outside the boiler? Just the test point on the gas valve inside the boiler... follow MI?? Sorry just I’m new to gas industry and get so many mixed messages regarding this 1mb drop etc.. I follow that rule but don’t want to tell customers that there’s a issue and there isn’t really a issue as they always say “well it’s been alright on the last 10 gas certs” by previous engineers

Just spotted a slight error I think, 12.53mins in, you have a reading of 0.04, you said it passed (which is right) but then you said because we have (alloud) 0.025mbars, guessing you meant 0.25mbars (water gauges) and 0.2mbars electronic.
@tomkatgastraining4 жыл бұрын
gbuk97 no you are allowed 0.25 for an electronic manometer if it is to 2 decimal points and that’s what I said, I think lol
