Hello, great video. If a person writes a letter confirming they gifted a vehicle to a family member would we add a jurat or Acknowledgement? Thank you in advance!

I know that the signer needs to sign in front of you for a jurat. In California, If the signer signed the document before you, do you tell them to resign the document in front of you or do you refuse to complete notarial act for document? Or do you just verify by asking if they are the ones who signed? Thanks!

Hello. If a customer brings a previously signed document to a Notary and requests a jurat, the signer would need to resign the document in the Notary’s presence. A jurat always requires signing in the Notary’s presence. If you need additional support, please contact our Hotline team: www.nationalnotary.org/membership/hotline

Great video. It seems some of the content here is similar to the How to Complete an Acknowledgement video.

Hi how does this work in Nevada?

A jurat is a type of notarization. The purpose of a jurat - also known in some states as a “verification upon oath or affirmation” - is for a signer to swear to or affirm the truthfulness of the contents of a document to a Notary or notarial officer. Jurats are used for documents such as affidavits and depositions, which often are used as evidence in trials or other legal proceedings. More information can be found here: www.nationalnotary.org/notary-bulletin/blog/2016/10/how-to-complete-a-jurat

Just look for the language on the document. Usually it says "subscribed and sworn"
