I love me some opto compression in general. It sounds more musical to me. I also use the dynamics function on Saturn to add compression. I set it to the tempo of the track I am mixing/mastering. Internal sidechains can be magic. It can be used as to shape the tone of the master as well. Thank you for the video.

It's funny: I remember back in the 90s, the consensus was to have longer release times on digital masters. But they have evolved a lot since then!

thank you a lot, made me more confident about my compression on master. The ONLY thing, these zooms in and out are too much in my opinion, but it doesn't really matter.

Knee is a really important contorl for compression in any track, even for drums. A too agressive knee can make the compression sound obvious and even distort the sound in an ugly way, this is why I never compress if the knee isn't at least 1 dB, even if it's for drums. This is also a reason why I preffer "digital" compressors, as most of them have a knee control.

@@Keroser1983 Btw, here's a small tip about it: My go-to knee value is always 6 dB, it seems that many digital compressors use it as "Medium Knee", it's like a good point for any kind of track.

Buying fab filter lol. These are some good lessons, like the lower freq filter is something I didn’t think about but was right in front of me. I use TDR Molotov

Man, dont forget that Molotov is an harmonic compressor. It introduces extra harmonics to the sound lol. For mastering be very careful with that!!

Thanks for watching Keroser! The result you get is a quarter note in milliseconds, so you can enter that value into your release or attack. If you want a quicker note, like an 1/8th divide by 2 - or a 1/16th divide by 4. SageAudio.com

What is the queue of the effects? Does the compressor come at the beginning or at the end? After saturation or before?

Cool quick tips on compression. But I didn't understand: how do you use that attack/release 60000/BPM rule? Let's say 126BPM. Result is 476,19. What now?

476 millisecond release, half it for the attack time
