Game mode make sense only if you are using Ryzen 9 7900X3D or 7950X3D. Why? Because 7900 & 7950 X3D version has two chiplets and only one of them has 3D V-cache. So AMD somehow using this "game mode" to identify you are starting to play any game and "park" those cores which are on the other chiplet without 3D V-Cache. For that reason 7800x3d reach better performance. 7800x3d has only one chiplet so system using it on full performance. Please dont be afraid of buying Ryzen 9 7000x3d versions tho... only install drivers from AMD and make sure you are using game mode in windows. This way you will get full performance of 3D cache ;) Small "Hack": If you want to test it open Resource Monitor, in CPU tab see when you run a game if your cores 16 up to 31 have been parked. You can even rename for example Cinebench.exe to aagame.exe, run cinebench and see if it parks cores (16-31). GL

First, look into Windows server, ltsc, tiny10 or atlas OS. If youre not up to a reinstall, look into a setting in edge. Under "system and performance", turn off "startup boost" and "Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed". This has been on by default whenever I install windows and seems to be the reason you'll notice 3 edge services always running when youve literally never opened edge in your life.

Personally I haven't seen much difference changing these values. I tested some of these options, like Core Isolation, and it didn't make any noticable difference. I think with newer versions of Windows you dont need to tweak your system in order to get higher fps. It pretty much comes down to your system specs and how the game is optimized by the developers.
@andrewpomodoro
@andrewpomodoro 9 ай бұрын
ive made some good strides increased 1% lows, and way more stable fps/no fpsdrops, but ive done more to my windows/bios then just this video. My pc does also feel more responsive but can't entirely cut out if its placebo or not. Not sure about how much fps i was averaging before but I can estimate atleast 75-125 frame (around a 33% from past) increase in valorant alone. The highest in an actual match ive seen it at was 700 and lowest 400's. constant 400+fps with minor dips. I can for sure say before I remember my frame dips would be crazy 400-300 constant peak/drop - +40-60frames. but most of the time whenever i look at my frames it'll only move as if its maxed out on vsync so it'll peak at a number usually 430 with small peaks/drops of 10-20frames. one of the best changes besides hardware overclocking was renaming gamebarpresence in sys32 and disabling in registry. this was what helped alot for 1% lows and framerate stability!
@m.heyatzadeh
@m.heyatzadeh 9 ай бұрын
@@andrewpomodoro Wow, you get 300+ fps on valorant meaning you've got very good specs. If I were you I'd leave it alone. I usually play single player games and as far as I get 60+ fps I'm ok with it. I only changed Nvidia control panel values to boost performance.
@andrewpomodoro

1000% brother my frames before were already good, really high and way more then I need but the constant drops and peaks kind of made the game feel weird. switching between extremely smooth and then something just feeling slightly ‘off’. almost like running your hand along a smooth surface but feeling a slight misshape due to a spill not cleaned properly lol. I would rate the experience as good before but after optimizations literally beyond PERFECT. no exaggeration but I can brute force my aim and not focus on crosshair placement as much because I kill people that fast if I don’t miss my shots, and I am in high elo aswell.

@@m.heyatzadeh frame rate stability and microstutters are extremely annoying bro competitive game or not, I would rather a smooth but low fps compared to a high unstable one. I would suggest if I were to do only one optimization to windows itself is renaming the gamebarpresence in system32. no joke man that one was a huge difference for me in reducing frame rate instability and 1% lows. Everything else just makes a tiny difference but adds up the more optimizations you pile ontoplol

 @CyberCPU - Revisiting this video after a few months and having a lot of trouble with "idle power consumption". The 2 settings "Energy plan: High Perfirmance" and "Nvidia Power-Management Mode: Max Performance" make it that the Ryzen 9 5950x and my 3080 Ti use a very much more idle power then normal. The CPU idles at 120 instead of 20-60w and the GPU idles 113-143w instead of 25-39w, changing theese and reboots solves the problem. Sometimes you just idle or want to watch YT. Idling at 255-280w instead of 80-130w is quite a lot, living in Germany (#3 most expensive power prices, worldwide") i reverted theese settings to not bleed me dry in money. I've heard different things regarding leaving power settings on balanced rather than high performance. If you care about you electricity bill or want your components to run cooler when not gaming than isn't it better to just leave it on balanced? Pretty much all modern games will be detected by windows to switch power delivery mode to high performance when gaming so i don't see how that is going to help. If you have a gaming laptop i would definitely leave power mode on balanced since that is going to directly effect your battery life.

@MJ-nn6cr 8 ай бұрын
As long as you have TPM enabled (by default on Windows 11) and the latter has a native function with the CPU you can safely disable the core isolation, since the latter only defends against one type of attack, and to receive such an attack you have to go looking for it. Viruses or deceptive codes don't happen by chance, it all depends on how you use your computer. By the way, core isolation is a windows feature, instead TPM is both software and hardware working through your system BIOS.

I see things like Atlas OS which is kind of the same thing. You still need a paid version of Windows Pro to make this work. I would love to see some kind of linuux that would do the same thing as OS/2 Warp did. That would turn windows into the kind of operating system it should be. Hey there, I really appreciated this video. And obviously you really know your stuff. I have an off topic question I'm hoping you might be able to easily answer? Last year I Built a monster machine; AMD Ryzen 9,5950 1 TB Gen 4 M2 SSD, 64 gigs of DDR 4 3200 memory, Nvidia RTX 3080, Windows 11, ASUS dark hero 7. and my question is; I built this machine to game and to do content creation. I use Photoshop elements 2023 and I'm using a 4K monitor. And anytime I try to use brushes in Photoshop especially the cloning tool, My machine just absolutely crawls and stutters it's horrible and obviously quite a bummer considering I spent all this money making machine specifically to do things like that. I was wondering if there were any settings I might tweak to get Photoshop elements 2023 running normally? I've done the obvious thing such as gone into the settings within the program and make sure it's you know using my Nvidia 3080 for help, but it runs like shit. Any suggestions are highly appreciated...

I seriously doubt disabling all of the services will help you gain any significant amount of gaming performance.. please go ahead and post a video of you recording the game performance for a few games before and after performing these "optimizations".

I'm also doubting some of these settings actual relevance for performance. Core isolation is definitely important to disable, but the services? Does it actually matter?

I'm running a 4090 and i9 13900k, for star citizen we use to have to disable e-cores but not anymore due to a patch awhile back BUT if anyone is wondering why they are still stuttering with e cores enabled with this CPU (maybe others) I had to enable core isolation (memory integrity) and it runs flawlessly now. So there could be a possibility certain games could react differently. I'm assuming most games would run better with it off.

Changing your pc form balanced to high performance is really stupid imho. The only change you'll get is that your pc power consumption will significantly go up in the idle state because cpu and gpu won't be able to clock down any longer and it's not like you have really any disadvantage in games either because it will use the maximum performance anyway and you'll even save some power with manual fps caps since the gpu will try to balance clocks for the given scenario to maintain that lock as best as possible, maybe you get some small drops in edge cases that you wouldn't have gotten with the maximum clock rate but VRR also solves that issue. If you're really that keen to have the best possible performance in games where it doesn't automatically go to the highest clock you can select the same power plan on a per application basis in the nvidia control panel so your clocks lock to the maximum performance setting while you still save power on idle where having max clocks makes pretty much zero difference.

@@CyberCPU Hi thanks for the response! I watched the entire video you have linked but at least with default windows settings on the power plans I can't replicate your results. Maybe it's because you tested on an amd cpu? I retested on what I claimed and sure enough my cpu is dead stuck on the max turbo frequency 24/7 as soon as I enable the high performance power plan even at idle or very low usage tasks. However the results on more consistent frametimes are intriguiging and I'll probably either tune the high performance plan with the windows power plan settings explorer you recommended or manually switch before gaming. I'm starting to think that those people online you have shown are not spreading misinformation with the cpu not downclocking specifically but rather that we are looking at some kind of bug (maybe Intel specific) where some cpu's don't behave like intended on the high power plan. You think you could test this theory? In my case it's 2 different models of Intel's 8th gen lineup that are stuck at max turbo clock once you enable high performance power plan. Let me know which settings you'd like to know from my power plan readout if that's of any help. I understand your frustrations on people where someone might easily think it's misinformation because the results are not repeatable on your own setup and the official guidlines of the power plans (hidden) settings seem to confirm that, but sometimes it's worth considering that nobody is technically in the wrong from the consumers point of view and it's just someone at the manufacturer or OS provider unintentionally messing something up and causing unintend behavior where all those consumer reports are coming from. Cheers mate!
@CyberCPU
@CyberCPU 19 күн бұрын
@@eduonkhl good point. There may very well be situations where a software bug could cause the CPU to go to Max boost because of the power plan. However, that wouldn't be by design. That would just be a bug.

On the 'refresh' rate thing, I tried to up my refresh rate from 60 to 170. According to the monitors manual, I should be able to do that. When I did it, the monitor went black and the computer would not boot up. So, I did a repair, which succeeded. Then I went into the NVIDIA software, and adjusted the refresh rate from there, and, it worked! I am mystified to say the least.

After changing my power setting to High performance, my idle power went up an extra 10 watts. Balanced lowers it back down 10 watts. That is on an Intel i5-13600k computer with a Radeon RX 6800 graphics card and the latest drivers.

Please note that changing gpu power management mode to max. performance will keep your gpu running at high clocks even when just browsing the net, or watching videos. At least that's what happened to me. It means more heat, and obviously more power draw, fans spinning etc. In this case I think it's much better to specify this in game profiles via nv control panel, possibly nv inspector to have gpu at max performance only when it's needed.
