I just cut the cord last week & bought this. It's WONDERFUL. I live 2 miles from the broadcast station so my reception is superb. I have 2 tvs and bought 3 $9.99 rabbit ear antennas. I used one for the Tablo and the other 2 actually wired into the tv's coaxial outlet. Now the reception is even better through the tv but not bad through the Tablo. I also had the Tablo app on one of my tv's & the reception thru the tv app is better than thru the roku Tablo app. So to save on bandwidth and to actually watch my locals while 2 programs were recording, I just use the antenna directly when watching live. I added a 256 gb flash drive that I got for $16.99 & it works flawlessly. The only downside is that the Tablo wouldn't recognize my Wifi and once I got it to recognize it, it wouldn't hold the signal & I had it right next to the route so I just hardwired thru the Ethernet cable and alls fine. Do you think that the problem is with the unit itself or my router? I also got Philo for $20.00 a mth & I get mostly all the cable channels with unlimited dvr. So I've gone from $115.00 a month for tv to $20.00 but the caveat is my internet went from $30.00 a mth unlimited to $75.00 a mth for 1TB which is cutting into my savings. I'm calling the competitor tomorrow and see about switching so I can get the introductory price for $35.00 for a year. They aren't going to let us get away with taking their monies away from the TV dept and using their bandwidth for the same price as the package.

Hi Olivia, Glad your're happy and you're still saving $600 annually. As far as the wifi issue, I haven't had any issues with any that I've installed for customers. I have quite a few out there installed. I have my own plugged into my router using ethernet. When the opportunity presents itself, I always choose ethernet over using wifi. So, if you have the opportunity to use ethernet, then don't sweat the wifi issue, unless you're having wifi issues in general in your home. If so, I would take a hard look at the wifi. +frankie2234 hey thanks for the subscription and the comment. I have a 2TB WD Drive connected to my Tablo. Here's some info directly from Tablo Support. Enjoy. Tablo currently supports external hard drives that are USB2 compatible. This includes USB 3.0 drives that are backwards compatible. Our most recommended drive is the Western Digital Elements. Any size! We do not currently support: USB Flash storage - Flash is simply not fast enough Networked (NAS) storage - There is too wide a variation in network speeds to support this For additional information on which hard drives work best with Tablo, visit www.tablotv.com/blog/back-away-from-that-flash-drive.

OCTOBER 2020. Thanks for the video. I am still in the dark as far as how you actually view the content. I heard you have to use another streaming device like ROKU to view the Tablo content. So l have to download the Tablo app on my ROKU and install it in order to watch what’s on the Tablo??

Hi James, thanks for commenting. Yes, you are 100% correct. You aren’t restricted to just using Roku. The Table app is available on Firestick and Apple TV, as well as most major Smart TV brands. Have a good day.

Hello David! Thanks for tuning in and commenting. Yes, I have used the remote streaming feature, and it works very well! Keep in mind, you have to have the paid guide subscription in order to have this feature. Also, depending on your router, you may have to enter the port forwarding manually. Good luck!

are you running any to TV's over wireless if so what are your internet speeds?

Yes Andrew, I'm running wirelessly to four of six TVs in the house. The other two TVs have wired connections. To also answer your question about my Internet speeds, I have 150Mbps coming in from the ISP. However, since the source of the Tablo programming is over the air, the Internet speed isn't really a factor. Proper antenna positioning and your internal networking structure are key. The Internet speed comes into play for programming originating from Internet streaming services, such as Hulu, Netflix, Sling, Amazon, etc. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your comment. So, using the Tablo app on the Roku one can watch TV, manage recordings, and I believe even update firmware, when new firmware is available. Typically, when new firmware is available, the end user will is prompted at the launch of the Tablo app to perform the update. However, I don't believe initial setup of the device is possible through the Roku. If I'm wrong about this and it is possible, someone please add to the comments. To my knowledge, the initial setup is performed using a web interface on a computer, or on the Tablo app for mobile devices. Hope this helps. Have a great day.

Glad you got the Tablo going. Keep in mind the Tablo is strictly to watch and record over the air broadcast TV. Streaming apps are a whole separate entity. For example, if you’re using a Roku, on your Home Screen you would see the Tablo app, along with your other streaming apps.

Thanks for watching. Tablo is hardware tuner that receives over the air TV signals. The channels are viewed through the Tablo app that is installed on a media device like a Roku or Firestick. So, only over the air content can be viewed.
