You can also react to the sound of a hit. Humans naturally have a slightly faster reaction to audio stimuli then to visual ones, so learning to react to sound is a valid option.

No actually, if you're playing on cab sound is not a reliable way to react to anything in this game. If you're in the arcade sound isn't going to work very well when a ddr machine, 10 other 3s cabs, and other fighting games are running on full blast. You should learn to do EVERYTHING in this game without any sound required.

playing on 30th collection on xbox and its mostly only black belts.. someone who is sort of just starting in sf3rd strike (played when i was young all the games but just obviously was some random things as a kid. i didnt get what i was doing or why i would want to do things yet) doa5 gave me a really good base line and understanding of fighting games thanks to its really amazing community especially in competitive. they have so many great people who will train the absolute shit out of you. so all your 3rd strike info is super useful as i watched a lot on 3rd strike. but still know i have many problems when i play. not great at ex attacks (like consistant), really bad at say like getting neutral heavy punch with ryu into hard dp and denjin... i alot of times accidently do forward hard punch and it gets me punished. but its some of the most fun i had in a long time

Some things in this vid are cool but there's a few minor things that should be noted. You should learn to buffer a full super input behind your confirm, this makes it so you only need to react with a piano or button press when something hits and you're not slow on the uptake because you have an entire motion to complete AND a button press. Secondly, hitsparks are a method some people use, but the most common among higher level players are usually: Stun bar increase, health bar decrease, or score increase. These 3 methods are much easier to react to than hitsparks since the visibility of the change is much easier to spot in the heat of the moment, and the visibility of the change also allows you to confirm even tighter windows than before such as Ken low forward and Yun low forward into LP dash punch. These two confirms are nigh impossible unless you are using one of those 3 indicators, since the hitsparks refresh slower than the healthbar, stun and score. Some people use sound for confirms but the drawback to that method is that if you're ever at an arcade where shit is blaring everywhere then reacting to sound cues isn't really that reliable, you should learn to do pretty much everything in 3s without any sort of audio indicator. Finally, learning to do your important confirms first is vital, and the best way to do this is make sure you can do up to 10 in a row with whatever confirm you are learning, if you can't then restart to discourage bad habits. And please, for the love of god don't be afraid to fuck up in game, it's fightcade not a tournament. Losing and reacting poorly are vital parts of the learning process, just keep it pushing and you'll get there.

@Wanderer-lj1gt I thought it was good info. However, I'd argue that most cabinets do have headphone jacks or that you can focus on your cabinet since you're sitting right at it and it's (likely) louder than the other cabinets
@Wanderer-lj1gt
@Wanderer-lj1gt 4 ай бұрын
Well, no most cabinets don't speaking from experience and no it isn't always the loudest. If you're playing on some weird viewlix cab with 30th then it might have a headphone jack but if you're playing on actual hardware like a supergun or a candy cab with a CPS3 board, no they won't have a headphone jack and aren't always louder than everything else especially if you're at a packed venue with 8 other cabs going off at once plus like 20 other machines from the arcade itself lol. @@mechafetus8082

I've been practicing with my hitconfirm and the one thing that I find myself struggle is doing a standing button to double qcf motion on my right side. I can do that with my left well enough but the right is where my hand just dies or something lol. Sometimes I have good days where I can do it well then few minutes it's back to the beginning. It's more an issue with doing a single standing button confirm into super than doing a tc to super and usually what I'm practicing is with those single standing button which has a shorter window to confirm it.

I feel you man. I also find it harder to go to the right - I think it's mostly down to how it's easier for the small muscles in the hand to "pull in" instead of pushing the stick. One thing that helps me is to "hook" my pinky finger (or 3rd finger) underneath the bottom side of the stick. Gives a tiny bit more control .

Great guide! I'm interested in the part where you talk about how it's better to only practice this specifically in short bursts. This may be a strange thing to ask, but do you have a source for that or something? It's not that I'm trying to factcheck you, I'd just love to read more about what kinds of practice are best for learn what types of skills

So wait, if a normal comes out in 4 frames, I have those 4 frames to buffer a full quarter circle forward motion and confirm into another? I can't wrap my head around how fast I would need to move the stick for that.
