The problem with this method is that the duct will kink when you push the dryer back in causing flow restriction, lint build up and thus fire danger.

** AVOID THE ADVICE IN THIS VIDEO ** So , this is actually very dangerous, it is true that it will be easier to install, the big problem with this is that when you push your machine back into its location 1) you have an excess of tubing that will collect moisture and lint 2) with all the extra tubing getting pushed back you have a very good chance that it bends , twists or kinks 3) these bends or kinks make extra taps that will capture even more moisture and lint And the biggest overall problem is this becomes a HUGE RISK OF FIRE SO MY ADVICE WOULD BE TO AVOID THE ADVICE IN THIS VIDEO

Refuting another guys method as dangerous without offering a viable solution is an exercise in futility...care to try again?

so it may kink. but also the flexible hose used is not rated for dryers. it is flammable. very. Better option. remove washer. fit dyer and then put washer back. connections for washer are usually easier to get to.

That’s a huge fire 🔥 risk. DON’T DO IT! Use a rigid or semi-rigid vent pipe.

Did exactly the same as your video showed. Stepped back and realized I do the hookup out in the room and push the dryer back. Was Almost ready to build sheet metal pipe / gas style as I was so pissed with frustration. LOL.

Good idea but once you push the dryer back the tube will get in the way and won't let you push the dryer all the way to the wall.

jpim75 Hey, thanks for you comment. I'm glad you asked. The duct I used is this one: bitly.com/1I8tS0k Take a look so you know what I'm talking about. Basically, it can compress and stretch as designed like an accordion or a slinky does. This duct will do the job well too. Soo, as you slide the dryer back in, make sure the exhaust duct is compressing, folding together in some what of a line form, as opposed to getting sideways like an "S" and compressing it oddly. Let me know if that helps.

This will work but it does increase heat cause of the funneling in the ducting. The more bends and the longer it travels will slow down exhaust.

I got pissed too and tried this very thing. Still doesn’t work because it kinks and doesn’t go back straight. So, I just had to cut it short again and hang over dryer like a bat and screw the radiator clamp in before too much blood rushed to my head before passing out. It’s really fun.

No because the hole to the outside is on the side wall. And the issue is that the bands holding them on don't hold them on. and any movement of dryer back in place creates kinks or else the bands fall off. Had the problem for years now and still have no hose into the wall that lasts longer than one load. I don't know why they don't invent an elastic band that goes around it.

I've been doing research and the flexible tubing is not as safe, but sometimes you gotta do it given the circumstances.
@Werewolf0216
@Werewolf0216 7 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately that super flexible tubing has paper in it and is very flamable, so not a good idea. But I understand the frustration because I have the exact same set-up in my laundry closet and I just got done cutting my finger, banging my head, pulling a muscle in my arm, pulling the whole bloody duct out of the wall and swearing at the top of my freaking lungs. You'd think in this day and age someone could have invented dryer ducting for tight spaces that works well and attaches easily. It is so idiotic. But, don't use that flexible ducting unless you want to burn your bloody house down.

Not true......I've seen the videos that have the ones that light on fire. But they are not all made the same. I did my own experiment on one I used for the short run from the dryer to my solid vent line.......no way could I light it on fire. I held a butane light up to it and couldn't start it on fire.
@slimjim7411
@slimjim7411 3 жыл бұрын
@@timkarcher6724 Yup they make some of them specifically for dryer venting. Although it could still fill up with lint and start a fire but if you're using a electric dryer it's pretty much a non-issue, and if you periodically clean it like you're supposed to that solves it. Also For $7 you can get a quick disconnect so you just reach down, pop it off, brush it out, and snap it back in.

uh....you are using duct material that is very flammable and could burn your house down. KZbinrs...do not use this material for ducting . It is safer to use the flexible aluminum duct...but rigid steel pipe is the very best. We may see the ducting shown in this view banned. I hope so. Watch this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJeoqYRpotx1fpo jeta45...switch to safer ducting ASAP.

the tech is showing how to instal a flex hose a little bit easier. if fire was a concern manufacturers wouldn't make these crappie flex hoses anymore and stick to the aluminum ones. bunch ignorant people that like to criticize ,without going to the right source .

+jeta45 Thanks for your response to my comment.I do not mean to be critical, only to point out that the silver flex transition duct is flammable and reduces in sizes when compressed putting back pressure on a dryer, leading to lint buildup and dryer wear.
@garypaulson4905

It would reduce in size when stretched out, and increase in size when compressed (back to its original size, or close to it).
