Great video and thanks for turning me on to that quick-connect flange! Back to Lowes tomorrow, but I've already found it on Amazon if Lowes doesn't have it. Also thanks for the tip about using a Dremel; I was planning to use a hacksaw, but that probably would've turned out UGly.

Thank you for the video. I was told a few times that when installing a vent that the hose had to be at an angle where the dryer's exhaust port would be either higher than or at the same horizontal plane as the exterior exhaust port. The reasons for that, again, as I was told by a few folks who repair washer and dryers, was because if a heater hose is angled upward too high it could lead to lint collecting and clogging the exhaust vent pipe. Newer machines come with a sensor these days that will auto-shut off when the sensor detects resistance from the exhaust port in order to prevent a fire. I originally had this problem with my dryer, then once I placed my vent hose lower than the exhaust port of my dryer, the problem of the auto-shut off went away. Hopefully you will not have this issue.

he could of done that since he was installing on second story. But that is virtually impossible to do on many laundrys that are in the basement. And many basements have dryers and their vents are mounted above the port of the dryer. So its definitely not a must. Just have to keep your dryer vents clean.

Good choice of saws. I used a 4" diameter hole saw and was not able to get my 4" pipe through it.... great choice to use a 4 &1/8" diameter hole saw...

Buddy, the image for your video shows the outside portion of installing a dryer vent, yet your video never covers that part. I'm trying to figure out how to properly install the outside portion of the vent, and all yours showed was how to use a hole saw for 2 seconds.

@@natejobs7463 I was a little hard on him. He lost the footage I guess but still could have shown what he did after the fact. I know how to do this stuff now but at the time (this was four years ago, dude) I was frustrated that the video didn't cover what was on the tin.

Google other videos on here for the foil vent hose. They are extremely flammable; most have a paper compound in them. Always use aluminum (or metal, preferred) to avoid dryer fires.

What if it’s a 15 or 20 ft vent (replacement) between rafters in the basement with an enclosed ceiling (the dryer vent is exposed where it exits the rafters into an unfinished portion of ceiling). The 4’ venting sections pulled apart when I was cleaning my vent.

your using the thing metal foil vent hose not a good choice at least use the semi flexible metal hose or ridge metal hose MUCH less of a fire hazard. But still nice work.

Yeah and how do you seal the outside? The proper way is to remove the siding, put in a siding plate then reinstall the siding. Nobody ever does this properly. I like how you left the outside details out. I know why....haha.

That tin foil vent can be ignited with a lighter. It's very flammable and unsafe. I know it's cheap, but it's not safe. Also the diameter of the interior of the aluminum foil tubing is smaller on the inside than it is on the outside. Why install vent with a 3.5" interior on aluminum duct of 4" or worse 5"?

Bullshit. If built properly, an upstairs laundry room will have the proper drain system. No different if your bathroom faucet leaks and causes damage. Thousands of home built today have upstairs laundry room and pretty sure insurance covers them.
