I saw the contractor instead of zip tie the inner layer of the flex duct onto the wye, he used screws...then he taped it down? Is that ok? He said that he wanted to make sure it doesn't fall off. I figured now that he placed holes into the inner liner that the fiberglass in the flex duct has now entered the airstream. Please advice. Thanks

Depending on damper location and spacing it was likely fine.

Looks like you used standard reinforced duck tape, instead of the silver metallic duct tape (that you squeegee on a connection). I think every HVAC video I've seen, universally that's mentioned as what not to use. And when a ziptipe is used, I think it's supposed to be more perpendicular to the boot, so that it can never slide over the ridge at the end of the boot.

It is my understanding when I read the description on Lowe’s website that the flexible duct is to insulate the rigid and semirigid ducts. It is not to be used as duct. I’m confused. I’ve seen this insulation being used as a duct….

Tape (ONLY) on inner sleeve using a squeegee... Then pull up insulation, use 1 zip tie.. Done.

Why didn't you use the proper tape or even mention it? UL 181B-FX or UL 181A-P for solid duct
