Super big help, ty! I would have never thought to change the soundbar settings off of soundbar and onto AV Amplifier. Quick question though if it's not too much trouble. I have a samsung B63M soundbar. Every once in awhile while playing a game, the audio will cut in and out for about 10 seconds or so. Is there any reason for it? Im using the optic cable for sound, instead of an hdmi cord. Could that be why? (Just got this soundbar and never owned one before, so this is a whole new world for me 😅)

I have a Samsung S95C TV and a Q900C soundbar. What is the correct way to hook up my PS5 for the best sound quality, such as Dolby Atmos? This made me feel a bit silly. I have been having troubles with my soundbar and I didn't know why. My soundbar only has one output so I had already assumed (like most) to connect the soundbar to the EARC hdmi input and the PS5 to any other 4K highspeed port. But everytime I turned my PS5 on there was always interference and clashing. It was like it was trying to run in a different resolution based on the TV. I had no idea there was an option on the PS5 to select the soundbar itself. I tried to connect it via bluetooth as well and it didn't recognize it. I completely bypassed the HDMI settings. Wow.

Have you tried messing with the audio settings on your PS5? Sometimes switching the format can make a big difference. Also, check if your soundbar's firmware is up to date. It's kinda easy to forget about updating those.

[Solution in the comments] I have the ASUS ROG PG32UQ monitor and I'm trying to get my Sony HT-SC40 soundbar to output sound from my PS5, but having no luck. The monitor has 2x HDMI 2.1 ports, but neither are listed as ARC or eARC from the ports on the back. They just say HDMI 2.1 but can't find information online anywhere that shows these are ARC-enabled but I think HDMI 2.1 is eARC automatically? I've tried the following methods with no success. Please help 🥲 1) HDMI from the PS5 to the monitor, then an HDMI from the monitor to the soundbar. Video, but no sound. 2) HDMI from the PS5 to the monitor, then Bluetooth from the Soundbar to PS5. It shows it listed in the Bluetooth devices but will not pair. Device not supported error on the PS5 for the soundbar. I'm unsure if a Bluetooth adapter might help this error go away. 3) I purchased an 8K/4K HDMI 2.1 splitter (1 in 2 out) that supports high quality sound (Dolby Atmos, etc.). Tried the HDMI into the PS5 then into the splitter, then HDMI from the splitter (port 1 for video) to the monitor and HDMI from the splitter (port 2 for audio) to the soundbar. Video, but no sound. I'm using 10ft 8K cables, so I'm unsure if this is an issue or not. I'm purchasing a 1.6ft 8K cable for the PS5 to the splitter then 3.3ft cables for the outputs to the monitor and soundbar in hopes this will work, but waiting on them to arrive. Is this splitter I set up in the right spot or should this be splitting from the monitor or splitting from the soundbar? I have it splitting from the PS5. Make sure your HDMI cable is plugged into the 'HDMI ARC' port on your soundbar and the 'HDMI Out' port on your PS5. Sometimes you also need to adjust the audio output settings on your PS5 to make sure it’s using HDMI. Hope that fixes it!

This guide is the exact tutorial i was looking for. However, it is missing one critical item which is the one i am having an issue with. When i follow the instructions and have the PS5 HDMI plugged into the Sony Bravia TV HDMI and the Bose 900 soundbar plugged into the ARC input, everything works fine and normal. I can use the TV remote to control the soundbar. The problem i am having is using a headset that plugs into the PS5 controller. The controller and headset work fine at first but after about 30 minutes, the PS5 crashes and turns off. The TV notifies that it is switching to TV speakers. It shuts down everything but the TV stays on (like there is no input). I tried changing HDMI inputs and i am using high end gold plated Rocketfish HDMI cables. I swapped cables just to be sure and still same thing. No headset, no problems. Plug it in and its crashing the PS5 in game. This is my last ditch effort to see if i can get the BOSE to work with my system. Otherwise, I will return it. It is way too expensive to be jamming up my home theater and gaming experience. I'll stick with the TV speakers and a reliable consistent performance. Thanks in advance!

UPDATE! It just wouldn't work so I had to try the next experiment. I returned the expensive BOSE soundbar 900 and bought a SONY soundbar. No more problems. Been using it all week and no problems whatsoever. Someone mentioned something in other comments about the way these electronics "handshake" with the signal. I suppose that was the issue. Sad that these new electronics are NOT always compatible. So since I had a Sony TV and a Sony PS5, I figured the Sony soundbar should work and it did. The new SONY is not as loud with 250 Watts while the BOSE was 600 but its better than the TV speakers and I saved a few bucks.

for connecting a soundbar with optical cable to PS5, you might need an adapter cuz PS5 don't have optical port. HDMI should work for sound too. Maybe check the PS5 audio settings or try a different HDMI cable if it's not giving sound. Hope this helps!

If I connect PS5 to Soundbar HDMI In port then a new Cable from HDMI OUT on Soundbar to TV HDMI EARC then you can't pass Dolby atmos via soundbar hdmi out port.

You're right, for Dolby Atmos, both devices need support it. If your soundbar doesn't pass it through its HDMI out, then you won't get the full Atmos experience on the TV. Maybe check soundbar settings or consider a different connection method.

you might need an HDMI audio extractor. This device can split the audio from the HDMI signal from your PS5 and send it to your soundbar through an optical or analog connection. Just make sure the extractor supports the audio formats you want to use.
