When doing this, does the 300 cross the signal so only the sub is giving low end bass? Or does the 300 stay at full range just w a sub as an addition. Also does the sub still need it’s own amp/power source?

The bass on the partybox 300 is enough, the bass is really strong but the subwoofer as you said is just an addition. And the sub does not need an amplifier.

The PB300 doesn't have a cross-over or Lo-Pass function for subwoofers. It has 100% line Out and line In, just like any regular amplifier. This Yamaha subwoofer seems to be a powered sub (has its own integrated amplifier). Couldn't see if it has a cross-over function.

Get a coax - rca adapter, plug the coax side into the daisy chain output then wire it to your sub via rca.

The output is probably just a signal and then you have to use active sub ( self powered ) and not amplified signal...
