Same issue - there is no "I/O" in Setup. I'm using a Yeti usb mic and have set the MIDI config for either Protools aggregate or the Yeti directly - but there's no "confirmation" as mentioned...and in setup there are only a few selections - no I/O Using ProTools First and 2017 Macbook Pro

Like another poster said "there's nothing online to help with this problem and you are the man!". I actually have an Mbox Mini with a very very old sure mic connected to it. It took me several times to get it to work. Possibly my fault in that old setups were still in memory. Thanks.

49Macman Yeah. Sometimes those old settings get you. I remember trashing my Pro tools preferences after getting frustrated with that haha

@@Myrecordinginternship1 Actually, I'm wondering about something. It seems I got as far as mic recording to P.T. and it will output to my internal Imac speakers. However, the way I set it up the sound volume can only be changed through the P.T. volume controls. Is it possible to play it back via the internal speakers and use the volume controls of my Imac without going into my Imac settings and changing them? Thanks again for this vid.

49Macman I almost always use my hd rig so I’m not sure but here’s the likely situation. I’m not sure if Pro tools overrides the volume control on your desktop but it might do that as it has its own audio driver. You can check to see how protools is outputting it’s signal by clicking the Apple logo and navigating to preferences then going to your sound settings.

@@Myrecordinginternship1 Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I have some other things to do tonight before I can get back to it. However, I went into audio/ midi on the mac and I see a bunch of options that may or may not get me there. I have sound flower installed and a few other things. Maybe If I setup the right ins/outs to get there.Or, you might be right about P.T. having it's own controls, but this only happens during audio recording. Virtual instruments have no issues. Frustrating indeed. Thanks fo your help. I'll keep you posted.

I had the same issue and it took me days to realized I didn't have my playback engine set as Pro Tools Aggregate. It's the second option down under "Setup". You might have figured it out by now, but just in case someone else comes to this video and sees this comment (like I did a while ago!), they'll have a solution!

Are you using an audio interface to monitor also? I can't seem to get input into Pro Tools while monitoring with an SSL interface even thought the USB mic shows up on my Pro Tools input pull down menu and I see audio input on the MAC system prefs.

This is a great help, but is it possible to add a USB mic to a setup that already has analog mics going into a mixer, then routed into ProTools?

GolfSmarterTV honestly, it seems like the input can only except one interface. It's possible to write the software in a way where a hybrid system would work but I haven't seen one that works properly in Protools. Leave a comment if you find a solution

When I first start a session on protools and create a track, the Inserts, Sent, and I/O are not visible next to the track. I can see the name of the track I create and a "comment" section next to it. @@MasterKief330 for me I had to download asio4all and use that as the audio engine. Apparently my yeti mic doesn't work with pro tools.
