Is it possible to hook Bose 321 using toslink to a pc for audio only?
@alangil40 Жыл бұрын
In the first example where the second speaker is connected to the first speaker via speaker wire is there still an advantage to using an audio interface? It seems the signal running across to the second speaker would be susceptible to noise. Though maybe that signal is at a higher power (post amplification) than the original audio signal out of the headphone jack, so I could be wrong.

im interested to know. I use a set of z906 5/7.1's. The sound I get is pretty nice, I don't feel like im missing any frequencies and I can set it to 2.1 with the 1 being the sub. Do I specifically need to swap out the z906's? I have ear issues, but do use DT 770's to check on sound quality when in the zone and my ears can take it too.

I am thinking to upgrade my Mackie CR3 speakers to Yamaha HSs. I have a small music room (2.4x2.4 meters) which is is little treated acoustically. Speakers placed on wall mounts (swivel brackets). Should I get Yamaha HS5 or HS7 for audio editing, connecting the mic, digital piano, bass guitar, and a little bit of mixing. I Use Yamaha MG10XU as my main soundboard/card. Speaker loudness does not matter for me, just seek a good and clear audio representation. Thanks in advance! 🙏

thanks for the info. I have a great guitar amp but there's so many cool plug in amp simulators I'm trying to figure out how to hook up everything, guitar and studio monitors to my Mac. Sounds like the audio interface takes care of it all. Just curious, does the guitar signal go from the interface to the Mac and then back out to the interface and then the speakers? Sounds strange but apparently it does.

I dare say, your channel has the best content of all the channels ive been watching for the past days. I have two questions and hopefully you will notice my comment here hehe. I am thinking of setting up a simple karaoke set in a bedroom. 1) Will there be any latency if i were to do karaoke on youtube with this setting? (Studio monitor+mic+audio interface+laptop/tv)? Will it work? 2) Should I get mixer (MG10XUF) and connect it to pa speakers instead of studio monitor? Do you have any recommendations on which speaker brand/type to use (say if i need to use normal speakers or pa speakers) 3)Should i get karaoke amplifier? Fyi, I am just going to have the set up on a work desk. Like a mini karaoke set up for myself. Thank you in advance!!

Extremely helpful - I was wondering how easy it was to plug in some basic studio monitors to also use as computer speakers, and this showed me the exact solution I was looking for. I'm looking at the Presonus Eris 2nd gen 4.5's, which appear to have both 2 RCA (unbalanced) and 2 TRS (balanced) quarter inch jacks. so the 3rd method: using a Scarlett 4i4... is using a mixer similar to this 3rd method? (such as the Behringer Xenyx 502 or the Yamaha AG03 or AG06? The key is that the Scarlett or the mixer can increase the volume quite a bit... otherwise right now, my piano playing that is played by the VST and sent out by Mac's headphone to the Yamaha HS5 is not loud enough... it is like a 10W output even when my HS5 is 70W

I am just looking at upgrading my computer speakers to monitor speakers and want to get an interface like the Scarlett or the Motu audio interface. What I am getting from this video, is the USB-C cable from PC/MAC to the interface is how the audio from the PC/MAC goes to the monitors? So if I am listening to music, watching YT/Videos and so on I can adjust the volume in the audio interface and life is good? It is the only part I am not fully understanding. Thanks

For a 10 years old boy, perhaps connecting the studio monitors to a headphone output may works, but it will sound horrendous. I believe this could be considered illegal abuse of the sound! 😂 Use appropriate audio interfaces, in second-hand market you can buy a Focusrite from less than 80 box!
@kettnercreative8 ай бұрын
Horrendous might be an overstatement. You might lose a tiny bit of dynamic range, and a tiny bit of frequency response which most people can't even hear anyway. For a lot of people, it's a great solution. Of course a dedicated A/D converter is the best case scenario, but using the computer sound card is far from horrendous.
@miguelalonsoperez56098 ай бұрын
@@kettnercreative is not a matter of quality: headphone output is a nearby 0 ohms impedance and low power in general, so if you connect directly to an amplifier you will need to set a high gain loosing precision and changing completely the sound color. Why use a studio monitor which is a precise tool for differentiating frequency levels if you’re changing those levels with a headphone output? For verification, you can connect your speakers to your Scarlett using the headphone output and hear the difference. The best headphone amp will be quite bad connected to a line level input (which usually expect 1,2 volts and has around 10.000 ohms). Connection to a headphone output will produce high distortions, bass enhance over treble and a ton of source noise. Better don’t tell incorrect information, as people who begin in audio will lack opportunities for enjoy their hobby or their future job just by less than 100 $ 🙄

for the second method, those cables are called "TRS to TS 'breakout' cables"... it is like faking unbalanced signal as balanced signal to feed into a device like the Yamaha HS5 that normally takes a balanced input

@IlkoAmbarev2 жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter what cable you use if it's terminated to and AUX. RCA, TS or even TRS and XLR would all run unbalanced if they terminate to a 3.5mm. The difference would only be personal preference. You'll get a 'better' version by connecting an interface and then running a balanced connection either through a TRS or an XLR to either speaker. That way you can get the error-correction those cables support through the interface. TLDR; Without an interface it doesn't matter what cable you use.
