son of a ....i spent HOURS trying to figure this out... my transmitter and receiver are both iBUS, and i kept getting the dreaded "Connected, Failsafe ( Serial Port Read Timeout ) message , switched the protocol in vjoyserialfeeder to MultiWii instead of iBus and boom it's working ! thank you .cheers. ( windows 10, Fs-16x Transmitter )

I would say that if you have to plug a battery in you might want to turn your vtx power down so you don't burn it up.

Awsome. Works great. Thank you very much. I tried a long time to connect my FlySky FS-i6 to the PC. This is by far the best way. I used a Eachine QX90C FC board without the camera and motors. Very easy to use and small.

You can tap 5v off the usb plug if your FC doesn't power the receiver from usb. I took out my multimeter and found small pads near the usb plug and ran the receiver from there.

I've found that in the SPRacing F3 even if It does not give power to the receiver, you can get 3.4 volt from the LED pin so you can use this board wothout a lipo

Awesome stuff as always. I use a ISDT q6 charger and was wondering if you can set it to power a quad on the bench instead of using a battery. It would work for this scenario where your fc doesn’t power your receiver, and you wouldn’t have to worry about your battery going dead. It would also be nice for bench testing. Can you set it to output a constant 3s or 4s voltage without having a balance plug connected?

Last time I checked, I could use my X9D Plus in liftoff using the USB just fine... (obviously that isn’t wireless though). I also have a USB thingy from iRange, where you can also connect an RX to. Didn’t check that one on the Mac yet, works flawless in Windows.

When I get to the vjoy serial feeder selected multi wii and the correct com port and hit connect and it says connected BUT then next to connected it says 0 channels available, 0 updates per second / ~ ms between updates... I've watched the video 5 times and I'm not missing any steps... Please help me out QWAD TESTER KING 👑

Hey... so I'm using a naze32 rev5 and a flyskyi6 transmitter and receiver and windows 10 on my computer. I can connect to betaflight and see my controller changing the colored sliders. But for some reason, I cant connect to the vjserialfeeder application. I did close my connection with betaflight, and did everything stated in the video, but I keep getting the error message " can not open that port" does anyone have any idea about what I could possibly be doing wrong? Could it have something with how the only port that pops up to connect it is COM4? That is the one that works for me in betaflight, and is the only one that pops up in vjserialfeeder.

the serial feeder software doesn't work in Uncrashed. it needs to have 4 axis and it only has 3 .. Uncrashed see's only what has an axis XY or Z .. the other axis Rx , Rz , Ry, Sl0 and Sl1 all act as switches and if you put 'none' it will not see it at all. if you put XY or Z in twice it will not work either .. I've tried

hmmm unable to get this working on my dell xps after a fresh install of windows. works fine connecting in betaflight and i can see the receiver and everything. When i close down betaflight and try to open the com port on the feeder app it just says unable to open com port.

Some flight controllers can't do this. For example : SP Racing F3. The flight controller doesn't power up the receiver. You need the battery to get it running. The downside... You will burn your VTX overtime.

audiogek Well, technically - yes. The direct connection will always be faster (with several milliseconds) compared to the FC reading the receiver and then retransmitting the data to the PC. Practically, will you be able to feel a difference? I don't know. Only way is to try.

Well, in that case I guess it is a matter of personal preference. If it doesn't matter to you if you are attached with a cable to your PC or not - then obviously there is no benefit. But if you want to play in your couch, on a big screen, away from your pc - then no cables is a plus.
