I need help, one of my dual monitors is not connecting to my laptop, can you tell me if I am using the right adapter.

I had used it before with an older MacAir and it worked perfectly, now I have a newer MacBook and when I plug it in it says "no signal" and turns itself off! Not sure what is wrong? It does not appear in the Display setting of the Mac when I go there. Any pointers??? Thank you.

@@prodbobbyoddsock it had to be plugged into the power outlet separately. I thought that was not necessary as it was getting power from the laptop itself, but I guess not. Now it works again. Just needed the power juice.

@@prodbobbyoddsock I think it depends on how powerful your laptop is. It may be that yours has enough power to power an external connected device! Glad you were able to make it work.

Because you have the wrong kind of USB-c cable. You need one that's capable of carrying a video signal, not just any USB-C cable.
