I just started a new job and was given a pretty old school laptop. It's a Dell Insperion 15 3000. It has 2 USB 3.0 ports and NO USB C port. I have a portable monitor that I connect with my Microsoft surface via a USB C to USB C cable. This also keeps the portable display charged. What are my options with the Dell? Is there any type of USB C to USB 3.0 that will allow the display and keep it charging? What about a hub of some kind?

Hello Shawn, If you want to use your portable monitor with an older laptop, then you will need to purchase a USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter. This cable with go from your laptop to the portable monitor. On the portable monitor, you should have a mini or regular HDMI slot. You will need to use that port. Grab a mini HDMI to Regular HDMI cable or Use an adapter( An adapter may have come with your portable monitor). Altogether you will connect the USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter to your portable monitor through the mini HDMI adapter. Sorry, no power doing it this way. You can use a power bank. Please watch from 11:06 of this video to 13:19. Let me know if you have any further questions.

If you are using a capture card into the splitter please pay attention to THIS SPECIFIC KEY DETAIL at 4:33. Had I known about the limit of a splitters distance with the HDMI I would have NOT purchased a 50 ft long HDMI for competitions or purchased a new capture card thinking that the previous one was broken, hell lets go for broke or buy a NEW splitter thinking that the previous splitter was no longer functioning all because of the LENGTH OF YOUR HDMI! Your video needed to land on my lap a long time ago. THANK YOU FOR THIS KEY DETAIL! appreciate you fam!

@@dr.momolua.massaquoi626 No, but depending on your laptop you may need a converter cable. Ex: converting USBC to HDMI or USB 3.0 to HDMI. Or If you laptop has an hdmi slot the you can just use that to hook up to your TV.

I have a Samsung TV and a Sony DVD Blueray player. all of my devices go thru my Yamaha receiver. I also have a fire stick and a ROKU thru the receiver. I had to replace the yamaha remote recently but it's not the actual one. it works with it. but I would like to be able to get my sony player working. it works, but the controls don't work. like the play arrow - or fast forward etc. not all dvd's automatically play. so I plan to use my RCA universalt remote but there are so many codes I don't know where to start.
