I've been flailing about for a year watching loads of tutorial videos and wading through Ableton's manual: none of them actually explained the Sync/Remote aspects with a simple screenshot. Thanks to this concise, simple tutorial I have got Ableton triggering my Crave and my Crave triggering an oscillator module - suddenly things have got really interesting. Thanks Danny!

I also use my Crave as a midi interface between my keyboard (DIN midi out) and my iPad (usb midi in). In this case the Crave is only acting as a midi interface. It saved me the cost of a midi interface.

@@ejsrocket sorry, no. I mostly use my IPad for teaching my self playing keyboard. Otherwise I mostly use my synths without iPad or computer. If I would do a bigger project I would use my computer for sequencing and recording.

Hi, I am searching for a way to control crave's output volume with midi, but cc7 is not implemented ☹️, is there some other way to do it? I am actually using a dedicated volume pedal on crave output but would prefer using a midi expression pedal connected to a midi controller or my Daw.

I brought a Behringer td-3...... Had to then figure out what Jack cable I needed and monitor speakers. Now brought the Behringer crave to be in the same position trying to figure out which jack I need as it's a different size. Now I've ordered a 3.5mm to a 6.35mm cable. It's so frustrating.

how can i integrate my td3, pro 1 and cat with my novation 49slmk3 ive searched tirelessly for the control values to make a ''template,''. i have them functioning however id like to be able to fully utilize the keyboard cabaility of onboard changes and automation to paramters other than pitch glide, they have a template for minilogue and the tr8 thank god. but yeah was kind of surprized they had no Bheringer templates this could really turn my studio up about ten notches, also I am currentyl using the crave as a desktop synth, along the Cat and Pro one, and the Td3 as Bass. However I have been tempted to bring the crave over to my modular box to see what kind of fun they would have together. Ideally Id like to have all synths and my Modular slaved to the 49SLMK3, as it has a serious powerful sequencer. any tips or insight greatly appreciated

The cheap behringer synths do not have much midi control, that would cost too much for such a cheap product. If you want to use midi parameter control get synths that have full midi control.

for me it is the opposite, i try to have the crave playing its internal sequence when i start my dawless setup (analog rytm as a brain), but it does not start via midi transport or prog ch...

please make a video about how to sync the crave with other instruments, im having problems with the sequencer doesn't play on the right time when i plug the crave into other instruments sync outputs also some times the crave just plays my sequence randomly, it plays the notes that i selected but not in the right way

I've discovered that the crave can not transmit sequencer and arp data via USB MIDI. it can only transmit simple note on off. is this normal? I've updated the firmware to 1.1.2 (23/03/20)

One of the biggest drawbacks of Behringer gear is the lack of midi implementation. No midi CC data sent or received on all the kit I've used so far. Not ideal and a big factor for anyone considering what their needs are

Behringer never announced officially to copy the Virus. There was a video with a picture of the Virus, but this doesn't mean they will build it. Maybe they just analyzed the structure or it was just a strategy to start rumors. And: the Virus is a virtual-analog synthesizer, means: it is based on copyrighted program code. Behringer cannot just copy this code, they would have to license it or program it their own way. Both ways cost extra money.

To be honest, I find the Crave a little boring on its own. I now have a Model-D and I think it's so much better. The Crave is nice when you can connect it to another device. Alone, as I said, I quickly found it a little bit boring ...

everything you can connect to a computer is fine with vcv rack! the best thing you can do for an hybrid setup is getting a dc coupled interface like the expert-sleepers es8 or es9...and get lost :-D

I have a little question: Via the Behringer Software you can activate/deactivate the Sequencer Autoplay. This is very handy because something I use the Sequencer and sometimes I use external Midi from DAW. But is there some kind of button combination on the Crave to toggle this option? Or is is this option only available via the Software? Thanks!

Only via software I am afraid. I know your pain, because everytime you want to toggle auto sync sequencer , you need to close the DAW, open Synthtribe (Can't use both) change value, close Synthtribe and open the DAW again. It's a struggle I know. Wish there was another way.

There is much better and wider use od CV I/O with Bitwig Studio. For example I have connected one audio output from audio interface and into filter in my MODEL-D and configured bitwig to send on that audio output CV signal. With this configuration my model-d can react to, for example, velocity and pressure (vibrato).

Only nice if you have a interface with multiple audio out. Otherwise you really need both Left and Right for the monitors. Best way is USB, they send exactly the same values and can be translated to CV internally on the synth which you can forward it to other synths. I seriously find that a waste of input and outputs, tbh. But I am a fan of experimenting though, so whatever you prefer! :D

You can do this by taking advantage of the CRAVE's midi in port and setting the CRAVE to slave to external midi clock in the system settings via the Synth Tribe application. You will need to connect the midi out port of your drum machine to the midi in on the CRAVE and also ensure your drum machine is set as the master clock source. Hope this helps! - Dan

also not sure what you mean, a r2r is mostly used for recording or tape delay experiments, so no need to sync it. if you need to sync it for delay experiment purposes, try to do it by ear i suppose

@ Fj Francois Back in the 90s, I would record SMPTE timecode onto one of the audio tracks. Then set the master clock in the computer's sequencer (pre-"DAW") to SMPTE - and it would synchronize to the tape playback track. Then you had a MIDI clock to send out. Something better may have been invented in the past 30 years.

Hey Hijack SONAR! As the launchkey relies on USB to power it, you would not be able to connect it directly to the CRAVE, unfortunately.

@@5minutesofpiano absolutely! You can control note data or trigger the sequencer on the CRAVE from a DAW either via the 5 pin midi or USB midi. As the CRAVE and MODEL-D do not transmit midi cc data from their controls, you would not be able to use them as a controller sorry.

Hi LevBogdanov - thanks for your comment however the results you're having don't sound right. Providing you follow each step carefully, there is no reason why you should be experiencing a humming sound. Please perhaps try different cables to rule out any potentially faulty cables and ensure you follow each step carefully as per the video. There may be some slight differences if you're using a different DAW than Ableton but the steps are very much the same nonetheless. Best of luck and please let me know how you get on - Dan

@@LevBogdanov Thanks for letting me know. You will need to connect the audio output from the CRAVE to an input on your audio interface. The USB is for Midi only and does not transmit audio. Once you have the CRAVE connected to your audio interface and have followed the steps, to configure Ableton, everything should work fine. Keep me posted. Many thanks - Dan
