Why don't you use the External Instrument device in Ableton? No need for the audio tracks and it's automatically latency compensated.

Hey Kris - great point! My goal was to show it in a way where people could apply the advice/settings to a variety of DAW's they may be using. I am not sure if all DAW's offer the same flexibility as Ableton.

You also have to use a more expensive version of Ableton to access that feature - and all it's really doing is automating the same manual steps we saw in this video.

How to set the midi clock in DAW to control CRAVE. I mean if I set tempo in DAW to 94 I expect CRAVE to sync its patterns to this tempo (or values ​​that will be the result of division by 2, 4, etc)

Thanks @yoppoyo! :-) For this video, I recorded the tracks directly into my DAW via an audio interface. Alternatively, you can use hardware multitrack/handheld audio recorders. Hope this helps! - Dan

Thanks for the swift reply, Dan! I'm looking for a seamless dawless-jamming-to-daw-recording setup. Probably an audio interface with multiple in- and outputs will help. But my ideal would be a mixer with that interface build in :) From Behringer! Am I asking too much?

Hi, Thanks but how to set Crave Assign patch output to -5V/+5V, Missing doc ! The Crave documentation shows that the ASSIGN output could be 0/5V or -/+5V. But there is nothing more on the subject. Is it something related to what is set for the ASSIGN patch output ? CC or something else ? Or is it something we can change and how ? I selected CC7 for ASSIGN, expecting the generated CV to be -/+5V, but it seems to be 0/+5V because when I plug ASSIGN output to VCA patch input and send CC7 the final output volume change but never totally reach 0= No volume ??? Further more the Sequencer and Arpegiator volume are not changed ?? Bug ?

Everything works great, playing, recording into DAW, but in audio mixdown CRAVE sound (midi track) is absent. Akai MPC. Now I know, that I have to "audioize" it. Thanks!

Popping up this thread, does someone has midi THRU issues though Crave ? in my case some notes (sent from Digitakt through Crave to Arp Oddyssey) are randomly doubled .... and can't figure out why ... does not occur at all through other midi devices using their own THRU port (thus : not wire, config or midi source issue) ....

You’re totally welcome, Rob! The CV/GATE outs will always be a duplicate of what’s outputted via the midi out. Whatever you’re sending midi-wise to control the CRAVE will duplicate out of the CV/GATE. Hope that helps!

@Satanic Panic Fun and Games I will look into this but it’s important to realise the CRAVE is purely a semi modular synth with the benefit of all of this connectivity with the addition of a built in sequencer to control it. As well as it being at an extremely affordable price point compared to what has been and what is currently being offered by other brands.

Just bought the crave but not sure if I’ve set it up the akai force properly. I’ve used the usb connection and it seems to be able to play the sequencer onto the force but the osc and filters don’t work. Does this mean I need to set up using midi cables ??

Well, the Crave just merrily keeps on plying it's internal pattern. So does the TD-3. But By pro 800 at least plays the midi from ableton. So that's something

hey the new firmware has a bug. Tempo input doesn't work with the divider. Only midi input can be divided. Old firmware seems still better.

Is there any way to trigger five semi-moduler Behringer synths with one midi cable? Because i have model d, pro1, neutron, K-2 and crave. I want to control all of them at the same time for live performances in one daw. I've discovered that the crave can not transmit sequencer and arp data via USB MIDI. it can only transmit simple note on off. is this normal? I've updated the firmware to 1.1.2 (23/03/20)

I don't think there's a difference but it's a way to free up your audio interface midi port for another device at the very least.

My unit doesn't even receive midi note but does sync with my daw, really disappointed in this unit and its past my warranty so I am stuck with the unit felt like throwing it in the bin last night.

Hi Saint Cole - Sorry to hear you're having some issues but it sounds more like a setup issue rather than a fault. If the midi was not working, it would not respond in any way at all, so the fact it is receiving sync shows it is not faulty. Please be sure to check that you're transmitting and receiving midi notes on the same midi channel as I am certain this is why it is not working.
