How to Connect the PS4 Slim to a VGA Computer Monitor or VGA TV

Hi, this video shows you how to use the PlayStation 4 Slim Console on a old VGA Monitor without any HDMI ports. This same setup will apply to old Televisions without HDMI ports but on the TV you will not need separate speakers as the TV will have speakers built in already (unlike my old monitor) but you may need a long 3.5mm stereo lead or a 3.5mm jack to twin Phono lead (red and white RCA connectors) depending on the Audio Inputs on your TV. Or you could use the headphone jack on the DualShock 4 Controller.
The picture is perfectly acceptable as on my old monitor it is outputting 720P (HD Ready) but your monitor may well be capable of 1080P(Full HD). It will not be as good as using a HDMI cable on a Full HD TV because using VGA is an analog signal rather than the better digital signal but is definitely usable.

This is just perfect! Worked instantly on my LG FLATRON W1943C VGA Monitor. I have tried like everything, nothing was working. So the main trick here is to have to power the converted signal, which is a common misunderstanding among people (like me at first) trying to connect their VGA monitors to the PS4. I was so confused the first time i bought the cheap HDMI to VGA converter which didn't have additional power support and was wondering why it won't work. Thanks for the video, mat, luckily I already had the HDMI switch so I didn't have to wait and buy another converter, just didn't thought that the converter had to be powered.

Guys just an update on this video, only buy the adapter if your monitor has a headphone jack. If your not bothered about the speakers just buy a hdmi to vga cable for about £8.00 ($10) which still allows you to use headphones. Even still, if you really want speakers just plug them into your controllers headphone jack via aux and you’ll still get a perfectly good sound! Also if you want a mic with that just get a mic to headset spliter :)
