This is such a great resource! I might add a note not to get a Focusrite Solo or Scarlett 2i2, if you use speakers for monitors with separate power, like a PA, or studio speakers. It makes a loud pop, like when you plug in an audio cable on every boot, even with the latest drivers. If you don't have your speakers on when you switch on your PC, this is not a problem. I think Mac computers are also okay. If you already have one with this popping on boot, you can use a cheap USB to audio connector ($5) to route your output sound through that and it'll solve the issue. Hope someone finds this useful. I still use my Solo a lot to mic myself and my amps and drums, though because it works well aside from that.

Thank you very much for this! Very helpful. You scared me at first with the SSD - but I guess if you have a Macbook Air or a laptop that has a solid state drive, you can skip purchasing this, correct?
