I just downloaded Mojave 10.14.1 update on my laptop before finding your instructions. It took a while, but I finally got it working by downloading the 0.16.8 version, NOT the newest one. The newest versions do not work and either force restart my laptop or just doesn't connect. I hope this information will help others.

NEW UPDATE! Tim M who you can see in the comments below has figured out why his controller was not connecting it turns out that the driver may have been blocked. So his solution was to Open "System Preferences" Go to "Security & Privacy" Click the "General" tab Notice at the bottom of this dialog it says "Some system software was blocked from loading". Click the "Allow..." button and allow from author "Drew Mills", that's @FranticRain Credit goes to Tim M for figuring it out! :D

macOS Catilina 10.15.7 works good with 1.0.0-alpha.5. I observed full circle flashes in the beginning and was about to give up, then I just chilled for 10 mins and when I came back the controller was still showing full circle flashes but it was working on the controllers sim thingy in the system preferences. I have a Gamesir T1s and repeatedly tried to pair it with my imac running el capitan...it paired for about 3 seconds and then UN-paired. I can't get it to stay paired using Bluetooth. So I found a video on KZbin (in Spanish) of a guy using the Gamesir T1s and the exact same Xbox 360 driver that you used. He had to connect the Gamesir to the Mac using its charging cable, but he didn't show the controller could then use the Bluetooth or if it had to stay wired to the Mac all the time. I think I will try it and find out because I REALLY like the Gamesir and it works well with my android phone.

Guys, If your testing of the controller works, but it's still not working in games, try checking "Try pretending to be an XBox 360 controller" in the "Advanced" tab of the driver. I actually have a 360 controller, but it didn't work until I check that, for some reason, lol. XD. You didn't really talk about the connectivity options of the XBox One Controller in this video.... I'm guessing that you still need the wireless adaptor and you can't simply connect it via the wireless USB Charger cord.

Hi Lorenzo, check that your controller has full power first. Okay with the adapter with solid green don't touch the button on the adapter. Now turn on xbox controller and then hold the sync button until it connects. Let me know how it goes :D

Thanks for the tutorial mate :) I'm having a small issue that maybe you might be able to help me with? I'm running El Capitan on an older Mac Pro (just slightly too old for Sierra now) and using a wired 360 controller. Pre-El Capitan, my controller worked with no issues. Now, when I plug it in it seems to interfere with the keyboard and trackpad. For example, pressing the triggers will move the mouse around and then it gets stuck in the corner. In some directions the axis sticks seem to activate keyboard keys like W and D. In game this seems to interfere with the character movements as well. It's all very strange and I've looked all over for an answer. Any ideas or suggestions of what might be going on?

Hi lungcell, there is a few things you could try. I'm thinking with the update to El Capitan it maybe the driver. Which driver did you download? If you have the tattiebogle version, then you can download the newer version by frantic rain. The link is in the description above. Another thing i would try if your playing on steam, i would go to big picture mode and controller settings and turn on xbox support. For emulators i would go to controller settings and check if anything changed there. Let me know if this works mate :)

Thanks for the quick reply Simon! I think you're right, it's probably an issue with the drivers. I've tried both the older Tattibogle version (0.12 from 2013) and the newer version of 0.16.5 that you linked above. The older version doesn't work at all the and the newest version is where I'm having difficulties. The solution might somewhere in between then. I don't really game with Steam btw, mostly with emulators. So what I'll try to do is test all the other versions in between and see if I can hit upon a sweet spot in there. Should be a be a long afternoon, haha. I'll keep you posted if I find anything. Thanks again mate :)

What emulators do you use? My favorite to use is OpenEmu it has loads of retro options. You could try it with OpenEmu if all else fails. Good Luck Mate :)

Thanks! I use OpenEmu as well! I use PCSXR for my Playstation games, and last year I was playing Wind Waker on the Dolphin emulator. I'm hoping to get back to that if I can sort this controller out. I never had Nintendo games growing up, and man… Wind Waker has stolen my heart haha :)

Hi thanks for this video, I've bought the Microsoft receiver, after making the mistake and paying for a non Microsoft version. when I plug in the devise it doesn't light up green, ergo I can't connect the controller. might I of bought a receiver just for PC ? or would I maybe need to look into a bit of software to help my Mac recognise the receiver ? Things you could try are using another usb port, Charge controller to full in case its a weak signal. Restart the computer and try again. Let me know how it goes.

No luck for me. I have the Microsoft Xbox360 Wireless Adapter and original xbox 360 wireless controllers. I have confirmed that they are working on a Windows10 machine. I cannot get them to work on a new MacBook Pro running Sierra. As far as I can tell, the driver doesn't support Sierra. System Information shows the adapter as a Vendor-Specific Device under USB: Product ID: 0x02a9 Vendor ID: 0x045e (Microsoft Corporation) Version: 6.0a Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec Location ID: 0x14400000 / 7 Current Available (mA): 500 Extra Operating Current (mA): 0 When trying to connect the controller (pressing the little link button) it just flashes the entire ring continuously.

It should still work with the cable, try this. Open up the driver and then you see a few tabs click advanced and there you will see a box enable driver. tick that box and then go back to the screen where you choose devices.

Have you tried going to system preferences, security and privacy, and under genral tab check if the driver is being blocked. It means that before you put your computer into sleep mode, you need to go into System Prefrences > Xbox 360 Controllers > Advanced and then tick the box that says disable drivers.

Download the 360Controller 0.16.1 (NOT THE NEWER VERSIONS) and then go into Privacy settings and allow author "Drew Mills" (no idea what it is tbh)... If you are user past or future MAC OSX Versions, try downloading the different drivers as one might be the right fit for your Machine.

Hi Lauren, using the latest driver. plug in your adapter press the button so it flashes. turn on the controller and then hold down the sync button until your controller has the spinning light. I've just noticed that even with the spinning light it is working. I think a new update on the mac has made the controller not able to figure out if it is player 1, 2 or 3 so it keeps spinning. let me know how it goes :D

UPDATE: Hey Guys! when syncing the controller you may have noticed the controller light spinning. I think a mac update has caused the controller not to be able to figure out which player it is so it keeps spinning trying to figure it out. I've just tested mine and it has the spinning light now but is still fully functional and a new random feature is you can move the mouse cursor around with the right analogue stick haha. :D

Hey Tim, when the light is spining on your controller. It might actually be connected but for some reason cant decide which player it is. So try pressing the buttons in the driver and see if they respond.

You can't. The Xbox 360 Controller doesn't communicate with the Xbox using bluetooth, it uses a proprietary Wireless Connection that cannot be read by normal means and requires a special adapter to use the controller, thats why the adapter is there.

I swear this actually worked! At first when he said to install the driver, I was worried it would infect my computer, but it was completely fine! I am not a fake account. But one warning to people, never do anything like this again. Other people trick you into downloading viruses on your computer. I am very lucky I found a driver that was safe.

which driver software did you download? check if its the right one. Let me know if that solved the issue.

I've had no issues using the wireless adapter but you can check The software developers page where he resolves issues. github.com/360Controller/360Controller/issues

I know im kinda late but I have the same problem. For wired xbox controllers, when you plug it in it says "no devices found" I have the right software installed. Its the newer version.

Press down the power button and that will restart it. Uninstall the driver if its causing issues. Mine still works great. Sorry to hear its not working well on your mac
