I just watched Jefferson's great video on panic attacks in which he made a comment about the body knowing something is wrong and Dr Gabor Mates book When the body says no , came straight to mind. I was amazed to hear Jefferson mention the Body Keeps the Score, another great read by Dr Bessel van der Kolk Thank you Jefferson for your fabulous videos.

Gods said if you leave this world with one good friend you are truly blessed; I know in my heart and my beingI am blessed in so many ways. But I have yet to find one true friend the kind you are talking about. But I am still here and time will tell so to speak.

Yes the breathing thing. I discovered that I was breathing shallow for years! I had no idea but once I discovered it was very helpful. My body is always in the tensed up position. It started after my 2 yes 2 Appendix operations age 15. I am 63 on the 31 July in 2024. So 3 days! I do know what to do bc I earned black belt in kickboxing. Ugh I need a life coach.

Jefferson we love you and don’t expect you to be perfect. No one is. You and your family come first. Your well being comes first. Listen to some of your own advice. Breathe. Create an imaginary waste basket where all irrational thoughts belong. ❤

Here's a summary of the key points: Body Awareness and Mental Resilience: The speaker discusses the disconnect between mental strategies and physical sensations, emphasizing the importance of listening to one's body. They mention the book "The Body Keeps the Score," which highlights how physical symptoms can reflect underlying psychological issues. The speaker reflects on their own experiences with panic attacks and how recognizing and addressing bodily responses has been crucial for their well-being. Emotional Isolation and Support: The speaker describes a sense of isolation despite financial success, noting that their achievements made them feel detached from their previous support network. They express gratitude for having a small, trusted circle of friends who provide genuine support and understanding. Handling Criticism and Defensive Strategies: The speaker shares techniques for managing criticism and emotional attacks, including: Silence: Using silence to defuse tense situations and make others reconsider their words. Acknowledgment: Accepting the possibility of valid points without fully conceding to criticism. Timing: Delaying responses to avoid reacting out of anger or defensiveness. Breathing and Stress Management: They reveal that shallow breathing or holding their breath exacerbated their stress. By focusing on proper breathing techniques, they found relief from panic attacks. Psychological Techniques for Dealing with Criticism: The speaker employs mental imagery, like visualizing a trash can to discard unhelpful comments, and separating their ego from their self-image to prevent criticism from affecting their self-worth. Boundary Setting and Self-Worth: They discuss the importance of asserting boundaries while maintaining self-respect, suggesting that communicating disinterest in engaging with negative feedback can be a powerful way to manage interactions. Overall, the transcript highlights practical approaches to dealing with stress, criticism, and the need for self-awareness in managing emotional health and personal relationships.
