Hello everyone! I have put a lot of thought into this video. And sorry for the sort of click baity title. I didnt want to spoil anything for anyone. Im not sure if the eyes planet part, or eye part would work. But I think its pretty possible to at least get our friends in the time loop with us! And Id be satisfied with that!

This is a bit late, but I always imagined how our character could spend countless loops mastering the art of writing in Nomai through trial and error with the translator, thus enabling us to perfectly answer everything Solanum has to ask us. Perhaps this could also aid in the reverse engineering and efforts towards saving the Hearthians?

hmmm. wed have to take the staffs and figure out how they work as well. cause thats how they write. but, absolutely, thatd probably help a ton. Thats an excellent idea. But, did you know solanum doesnt know her clans gone. She may have an inkling, but shes only really been at the eye for 1 second. or has it been 1000 years? This is a neat theory. A slightly less-dangerous variation would be to avoid duplicating yourself, and simply do what Bill Murray did in "Groundhog Day." Just learn, and keep learning. It would take so much longer, since you are working alone, but you have a literal eternity to work with. Eventually, even if it takes centuries, the protagonist would take apart old Nomai tech, experiment with it, break it, and eventually learn how and why it works. The real drawback is that it would take a LOT longer working alone, but - again - they have eternity. I think you're right about bringing Hornfels into the loop. There are a few more unlinked statues around, so bringing them in would help with the research and tinkering. And as for the first research project, the obvious choice would be to start with the statues (though warp core tech might be more fruitful, since instantaneous travel to and from the statue lab will make it easier to bring more Hearthians into the loop later.) Either way, eventually I could see the protagonist able to build new statues, though I don't know if it would be possible to actually build one in only 22 minutes. Warp travel to the lab would really be important here, to be able to save time and get a statue built and in front of an unlinked Hearthian in the time provided. I'm sure after centuries of trial and error, the protagonist would have the process perfected, though. Like we said: we've got eternity to work with here! Here's the real question: is 22 minutes as far back as the ATP can send information? Can it send information back any farther? What could the protagonist (and the rest of the Hearthians, assuming they're brought into the loop) do with a day? A week? A month? A year? We start running into real paradox territory here, but what if the protagonist spends their time really tinkering with the ATP itself (doing everything but removing the warp core) and learning exactly how it works? What if they learn how to somehow modify the ATP so it can send info farther back in time than 22 minutes, so they have more time to build things? They could build more masks for the ATP and statues to link to them. All of the Hearthians together, with more than 22 minutes to work with, and after going through several loops of education and discovery together, could master the technology of the Nomai and surpass it! The could eventually build a ship to carry their whole society together to the Eye. And like you said in your video: once there, who can say what is possible? How would the Eye look and behave with multiple conscious observers? What would the Eye be like with the entirely of Hearthian society present? That's something I can't even begin to imagine!

So, yes, we have forever. But it seems no matter how crazy the info we relay to hornfells/people in our town. They just sort of tell us we are loopy. or mentally wibbly. Having finished echoes of the eye, (spoilers duh) I don't think a whole civilization living in a time loop is a great way to cope with death. A great lesson in the DLC is people should accept and embrace the end, to foster new beginnings, instead of being cowards and stay in a stale environment forever. But you know, each to their own. Maybe leave people who wishes to live forever in the time loop, while the adventurous ones could jump into the eye. At this point it is anyone's guess what could happen with so many conscious observers.

5:32 idk if sending the masks back in time to duplicate them could work, if their "program" works like coding, the duplicated coding could make so errors could occur... Or it could work, who knows? Also, idk if duplicating the player character would be a good ideia, or anyone/anything for that matter, everything you could do with what you pointed out in this video could be done without any duplication, that would be just a hassle. A thought that i had after finishing the game was if the player character were to learn to write/read nomai as well as how their tech works, that way, they could fix the vessels message board/wall and comunicate to other nomai outside of their solar system, maybe even get timber hearths location and send it to them, teleporting their vessel near timber hearth and taking the hearthians to somewhere safe. (assuming theres any place thats actually safe in the univeser/galaxy) Also using the ashtwin project on the travellers and feldspar, after all, they would need to return to timber hearth for all this to work, having to go to each of them would take precious time, also, talking about time the true problem would be the time that it takes to get to feldspar to get them, as well as stopping by the vessel and comunicating to the nomai, that would leave very few minutes for the vessel to get them and leave... though they could use the vessels teleporting system to warp straigh to timber hearth. Btw, they could learn how to make a adv warp core for the vessel, and not use the ashtwin projects adv warp core, so they dont run any real risks... Or not, just use that one instead to save time.
@TheLoreExplorer
@TheLoreExplorer 3 жыл бұрын
so, we have told a few hearthians we die and come back. they dont believe us. Gabbro has tried to as well. My solution to this is the duplication. I think theyd have a hard time writing us off as insane with a duplicate of us standing right next to us. but other than that. yes, i agree. duplication is mostly a problem. not a solution. Also, yes. I said theyd work on creating another advanced warp core so they could power the vessel and the atp. Another thing is we can sync the citizens up one by one. loop by loop. we have all the time in the universe. literally. We go to feldspar and tele them, where they need to be instantly. Also, yes, we see other stars at the beginning. but remember light takes time to travel. All the stars we see are likely gone by the time we even woke up. So, as far as other nomai still alive, its highly unlikely. The message board there works now anyway. The warp core broke instantly and they still received messages later. So, we wouldnt even need one to try and send a message out.

I think the one issue with this plan is creating duplicate Selves. While it might make reverse engineering faster, it's too risky as you could end the universe at any moment. As long as you avoid doing this and keep people from touching the warp core, there's no chance your plan will ever fail.

Problems with the scenario (nice one btw): The memory statue only records one individual. This means that if a copy (not connected to a statue) dies, their memory is gone forever, they are dead for good. Also if 2 of copies die, then the spacetime will shatter no matter what. It is bound to happen sometime. If you dispose of the copies by letting them "ascend" into the eye, the spacetime would also break. The problem isn't 2 scouts, the problem is scout exiting, but never entering. A consequence without a cause. You might be unable to do Nomai stuff because you don't have the star tools: the planets are sparce with resources. Let me use a minecraft analogy (forgive me, lol): nomai came in the system with diamond pickaxes. There is no iron in the system, yet Nomai were able to get diamonds. If all diamond pickaxes are gone, you can't mine more, you are locked forever. Nomai came here with tools that let them make platforms, write, levitate rocks. You may need those to start the development, yet you may not have the resources to make those. The last problem would be fixed if you could meet up with other Nomai using the Vessel. This seems unlikely to without the tools you are trying to get out of it.
@TheLoreExplorer
@TheLoreExplorer 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. The statue would only record one set of memories. But they'd be jumping through the black hole. Maintaining them naturally. I also refute the cause and effect argument. That's broken every time we duplicate anything. But we can just disagree on this.

@@TheLoreExplorer that's the point. Seems like a miscommunication: in the Outer Wilds (and maybe irl) cause can happen after an effect because of time running backwards. It doesn't make it less of a cause-effect connection, though. If the cause never happens, but effect exists, then there is a slight problem and the Universe kinda can't exist anymore. At least that's the common reasoning for... pretty much any time travel paradox ever. The difference is what happens if the cause isn't there.
@TheLoreExplorer
@TheLoreExplorer 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah. We aren't about common reasoning here. We are about reason. And with a universe built the way it is, cause and effect isn't the problem. Imo. Again. I. Think we just disagree on this one. And that's OK.

@@807D14M0ND5 In my eyes at least, jumping into a black hole doesnt send you back in time or even copy you. It sends you to a parallel universe. So when we jump through we find ourselves in another hearthians universe inside the atp. Yet somehow we control the hearthian already there. so now we have 2 hearthians. When we go and jump back through, we again jump to a new universe alone, leaving self behind in ours to die. So each time we are making more "copies". They just get left in the old universe where we never made it to the eye and the sun actually kills everyone. I realize this view isnt widely accepted. So, black-to-white time system allow to add info and substances to the past. It doesn’t matter how it works, with adding new atoms in universe or with changing entropy, the topic is not about it. If we added smth to the past with the white hole, we need to put it in the black hole future/present. It’s fine. But we can’t lose information, bcs we get crashing of universe. There is no problem with the statue synchronized with player, because after getting memory from b-t-w time system a statue can systematize data before posting to the player. But if we transfer the player, there is a problem. If we made a clone, we must to send into atp a subject with the same memory or more. (If we can consider subjects as a storage of memory). But throughout the new cycle the subject can lose some information, just forget it. And atp won’t get the needful info to create a right clone. What makes universe crash again. That make a question: what does it mean to be equal to yourself for atp in this game.

Don't the statues only work in the loop when the eye is discovered? You'd need to either A. cause the probe cannon to fire at the eye (possibly erasing the eye coordinates as well to make sure the statues reactivate) or B. cause an 'equipment failure' inside the ATP (you might need to learn how to fix it as well)

I have a theory in testing, about Dark Bramble, the seeds and the destruction of the fabric of time. I mean, Nomais when arrived to this system "casually" fall in a destroyed planet and they "casually" ended up in the center of that planet.. Something similar to a seed of that planet reach TimberHearth when the time loop began, casually in the same planet. And when you destroy the fabric of space time "Casually" grows arround the paradox a root-like cracks. I mean, a lot of casuallytis, the eye of the universe looks like the data of all the proves sended to search the eye, rounded with the same energy color than the module inside Giant's Deep.. ¿What if the Nomai Ship destroyed the fabric of time at it´s arrival? ¿Maybe the loops cracked the space-time so heavily than the time braked in the same moment the Nomais arrived?

Wait a minute.... Wouldn't Self just jumping into the Ash Twin Project solve the causality breakdown? I mean, time doesn't break from our memories going back. As long as he keeps jumping in, then therer is always a loop of him doing that while we the memory version just keep trekking on.
@zaktak4380

I think instead of memory statues they should just jump into black holes. That way they could live their lives as normal, age, have kids and even die. But they would have to bring back warp cores with the ATP core. That way they could make a bigger warp core (maybe with the energy from other supernovae) and bring back an establishment or even a planet, so they don't have to jump into the ATP core. But wait! With other supernovae, they could produce enough energy to travel back more than 22 minutes! That means they can extend loops. If they utalize enough supernovae, they could maybe even travel back to when the nomai existed! But if that happens evolution will probably have created more species anyways. Anyways, I think the eye wouldn't let a universe exist forever. Maybe it would collapse somehow else. And I think the best is to move on to the next universe.

@TheLoreExplorer

yeah. thats why i sort of didnt have every hearthian jump in and create an army of hearthians. The only two that would have to jump in in this scenario is us and the original self. And theyd have portable warp cores to teleport them back automatically when it happens. The other guys are just connected to the statues, and arent duplicated, so they dont need to jump in!
@sandsalamand3763
@sandsalamand3763 3 жыл бұрын
@The Lore Explorer Wouldn't any progress they made on portable warp cores be reset every 22 minutes? Or if you're planning to send it back in time through the warp core, then wouldn't they have to make sure they throw it into the core at the end of every loop? As a side note, warp cores might simply be impossible to make portable, since they require a massive amount of energy that couldn't fit in your pocket.
@Undy1

I know this video is pretty old at this point but I have to point a couple of problems with it anyway. First of all the duplication is incredibly dangerous and the more duplicates the higher the chances that one of them won't make it back to the black hole in time - and with possibly tens of thousands of loops to figure out the Nomai tech that would definitely happen eventually. There's another problem - the Hearthians don't know that jumping into the black hole will duplicate someone and they don't know that not jumping into the black hole a second time will destroy spacetime - they can't know that because if that ever happens it's over for the whole universe and the loop. However that might not actually be a problem, or at least not the same way as portrayed in-game. Since the game can't predict that we're going to jump into the black hole at the end of the loop "the self" only appears after that in the next loop. But what should happen instead (but again it's impossible because the game doesn't know the future) is that the self should be at the ATP before we jump into the black hole for the first time. And only then us jumping into the black hole would be a 'requirement'. Furthermore the next loop could have the self at the ATP or it could not have them at the ATP depending on whether we're going to jump into the black hole at the end of that loop. There's another problem - any duplicate is going to die for real at the end of each loop - the memories of the duplicate aren't saved, and apparently they don't pair with a new statue either (since there's an unused statue at the ATP and the self didn't trigger it by being there). It wouldn't make sense anyway because the duplicate doesn't have a permanent body to return to - the only way for them to survive is to keep jumping into the black hole which presents another problem - that would mean there would have to be more selves to begin with, in fact there should be as many selves at the ATP already present as many times 'the oldest' self will jump into the black hole before they either die or decide to stop. Or the number of duplicates should increase with each subsequent loop, I'm not entirely sure how the loop specifically works in situations like that. Now the Nomai tech - even if you figure it out and even if you manage to make an extra mask in 22 minutes it won't work - all the work you do will be erased at the end of the loop since it was all made inside the loop. The mask would have to be carved and put online before the loop started to work. This is true for every piece of tech. You can't build anything new that will still be there once the the loop resets. But it would be possible would be to add a couple of people to the loop. There are 3 statues that would 100% work - 1 in the ATP, 1 inside the Black Hole Forge and 1 inside the Statue Workshop. There are two extra statues inside the Sun Station, however the Sun Station doesn't survive the full length of the loop, I'd take a guess that these could work partially and only record the memories from the first half of the loop. People using these would have memory gaps but that would still be enough to be useful and aware of the loop. So we could have a total of 5 Hearthians with full memory and 2 with partial memory. Then these people could take all the functional ships and transport everybody along with the supplies required to survive to the Stranger (I know that wasn't an option back when you made this video). And if that operation succeeded the ATP could be powered down and the remaining Hearthians could live out their lives on the Stranger, probably not a good idea to make kids in a dying universe though - just live and die, and possibly let a few remaining old Hearthians go to they Eye before they die of old age to start a new universe. This could work, it's pretty simple and straightforward too, doesn't require learning Nomai tech or anything too complicated. The final problem though is that the exact opposite of what the game is trying to say, and that's especially true since the DLC exists. Because surviving the heat death of the universe is exactly what the Owlk wanted to do. They were willing to survive at all costs because they were scared. But the point of the game is to teach us to not be scared and to accept our fate, however sad it might be. Ah actually now that I think about it there's another problem - I'm pretty sure that disabling the ATP would destroy spacetime regardless - think about it, the ATP sends back memories and probe data, as well as the command for the cannon to fire 22 minutes into the past - this means that at the beginning of each loop the cannon receives a command to fire from the future. But if we disable the ATP then why did the cannon fire at the beginning of the loop? Paradox. Easiest way to think about it is in the context of the first ever loop, before the sun actually exploded - the cannon would fire seemingly out of nowhere, the data would be collected and sent to the ATP and then sun explodes 'for the first time' creating a black hole that sends the gathered data as well as the command for the cannon to fire back in time. But if the cannon already fired and received the data from the future, then stopping the ATP and preventing the data and the command from being sent should break spacetime. Now again, in reality what would probably happen is that the cannon would simply not fire at the beginning of the loop in which we're going to disable the ATP thus avoiding the paradox, but also obviously a game can't see the future so that's not possible in-game. PS. Also I'm somewhat convinced that the eye doesn't destroy the universe/create a new one at the very moment someone arrives in it, instead it waits for everything to die in the current universe before doing that. Say if the Owlks decided to enter the Eye they would sort of enable it's ability to create a new universe but the current universe would still go on until it's natural death, so the Hearthians would've still have existed. PPS. If the ATP was a place that we would more often go back to (maybe even every loop), then a cool mechanic could be that the self would appear randomly in some loops and the player would have to figure out that they have to jump in the black hole at the end of the loop to not destroy spacetime. And furthermore jumping into the black hole without the self present in that loop would also destroy spacetime.

Wait, I know I'm super late hah, but wouldn't your ATP Black Hole jumping selves age normally and die of old age? It's only when you get sent your memories back that you don't age and have all the time in the world. Your memories would only be sent to your non black hole traveling self as well and you'd have your own ones from that point onwards (or until you don't get back into the black hole). And why would the ATP send yourself back just as a "normal" loop? Wouldn't you have to be sent wherever memories are sent (like right there at the ATP) and every time you'd enter the black hole, you'd travel and appear as another copy? Wait this gets really messy the more I try to think about it lol.
