In my last video, I hid the number 55. This number was my MLB number, and It's very special to me. When I was younger, I dreamed of having #5. That was my favorite number. Well... I got to the big leagues with the St. Louis Cardinals and Albert Pujols had that number, so I decided to be #55 - The Double Nickel. Anyway, hit that like button and subscribe to the channel if you're new here.

I played little league baseball from age 5 until I was 12 years old then I played travel baseball at age 13 and played for coaches that played pro or college. Then I went on to play highschool baseball for three straight years and then I went to MLB tryouts and the Florida Marlins which now is the Miami Marlins was interested in me. So at one point in time I was being scouted by the Florida Marlins but that's been almost 20 years ago I never played pro or college but I was taught by coaches that played pro or college. But my playing days are over but I still have the passion and I still love the game of baseball and it's still in my blood. So I'm thinking about doing baseball lessons and when I was playing my positions were pitching and playing firstbase. So I know a thing or two about pitching, fielding, throwing, hitting, and base running. I've tried to reach out to academies in my local area and can't seem to get a response from anybody about doing lessons. But see I don't want to give lessons and not get anything out of it because I want to be able to improve their game and develop them to be the players that they want to be. So what do you recommend for a first timer who is trying to do baseball lessons?

Recently I've been trying to find the answers to my problems hitting! I dont try and hit home runs or really pull heavy but regardless of that, I would hit most of my pitches and tosses to left center, occasionally center field. I've been trying to really just put a nice, smooth stroke on the ball and really let the ball come to me. I would swing so early that I was hitting off the end of the bat or would hit it towards the hands cause I was too far out in front. Watching Bonds, Boggs, Gwynn and a lot of the high contact guys, they preached bunting and playing "catch" with the bat. So I finally tried to bunt the ball! I see how certain pitches now were good for that and which ones werent. It really opened my eyes to the strike zone, and helped my mechanics a ton because I started seeing the ball hit the bat and see it through the zone much more clearly. Although a good portion of my bunts werent good, I started consistently making better contact and really driving the ball to right field, right center and hitting hard line drives every which way throughout the cage. Thank you for showing us this Jermaine, you are an amazing coach! Definitely gonna sub to learn more critical knowledge lol. And I look forward to going back to the cage to learn this lost art of bunting. Although I was only practicing off of a 60mph machine, I'll have to admit I was a bit timid to bunt the ball and get my face closer to the strikezone LOL.

Thanks Jermaine, You have answered our prayers my 14u son has been in a hitting slump I’ve noticed his been drifting forward a bit and has been way out in front with moon shots that are foul balls. It’s hard to watch seeing the struggle on his face breaks my heart. Any advice it will go a long way. Thanks again Jermaine I wish you well.

Well hot dang! And another great video! Quick question, when doing the drills off the machine, what speed to you have it set at? I’ll of course adjust down for my kids if needed haha
@JermaineCurtis552 жыл бұрын
It's at 90mph on that machine. But, I would put it at average pitching speeds to below average, if you're wanting to do drills off of it. And by the way, email me. You won the contest in the last video. That is, if you want it.

Does a wider stance or narrow stance affect your power because i have a narrower stance and i am always late.
@JermaineCurtis552 жыл бұрын
No, a wider stance or narrow stance wouldn't affect your power. You still have to get in the launch position. You're just starting late. Furthermore, you have to change your trigger. I have a video about timing on my channel.
