I have been having my 10u son do these drills using the camwood bats and I will say that these drills are 100% responsible for a huge improvement in his swing. He makes contact with the ball more often and bat speed is MUCH better. He isn’t late any more. Great drills. I now have the team I coach all doing these drills too.

Very Nice! Thank you for explaining it so well! I heard it is better to train the kids on this while they are young. Do you have an age recommendation as to when kids should start to practice this? Is success with this technique dependent on the ability to generate power? For example, kids in t-ball who are too weak to generate any power, would teaching them this technique help or hurt their t-ball performance in their t-ball games? I literally just saw kids this season in t-ball trying these techniques forced by their parents, but they would strike out a lot, hit directly to the pitcher or first base, or not hit very far, and they would get out more often than kids who didn't try so hard to perfect these moves. Is T-ball to young to start them training them with this technique? What are your thoughts?

Trying to help my son fix his drag which then leads to lunging. Going to try this technique. My question is do you implement any type of stride with this technique. Thank you for your videos!!
@albertpizarro3857
@albertpizarro3857 3 жыл бұрын
Juan, the stride should not be related to bat drag. The reason is because when the player strides he is not swinging or turning yet. The stuff here on the video is related to when the stride is completed, the front foot is flat on the ground and then you can start turning the hips, which is when the turning starts and thus bat dragging happens due to the 3 issues mentioned on the video. Now is very common with young hitters to even start dragging before the front foot is down, which is due to hitters starting to swing or turn too early before the front foot is down. This almost always creates bat drag.
@JuanGonzalez-th5dh

@@albertpizarro3857 thank you I appreciate the feedback. My son is a small guy and he was in fire before Covid where I live in LA everything shutdown so my sons play we t down it’s like starting over and the mechanics are horrible bat drag is part of the issue. He went from a 31 to 32” bat size and I’ve asked him to go back to a 31” where he could possibly handle that bat better but right now his pride is in his way. Any thoughts to that?
@albertpizarro3857
@albertpizarro3857 3 жыл бұрын
What’s his age? A 32” is usually for a high school kid or a Pre-high school tall/big. If he’s not keeping good control of the barrel then shorter/lighter bat is better to improve bat path/control.

At what age is it good to start working on my 7yo drags elbow badly but I don’t want to overwhelm him. Kid is batting a 1000 with 15 at bats this season on coach pitch. Figured I’d wait until end of season to work with him. His cadence is there and hits many between third and short stop as a RH hitter.

Teacherman's wrist snap motion looks like drag when shown in isolation. When performed in practice without letting the bicep open, it pretty much produces a very similar, connected swing result like we're seeing here when the elbow tucks with it. He just teaches a focal point that maximizes whip.

Mental cue for younger hitters that clearly don’t understand the terminology. We never want to drag our bat through the zone. We do want to create lag so we can release the barrel. Those simple statements with a proper display of both click well with younger guys.

Hey coach madden can you make a video of how to not get robbed of an at bat. Today I played a game and was robbed of 2 of 3 of my at bats due to inconsistent calls. Also can you make a video on having thick skin also today I was pitching an everything was great struck out the side in the first inning and got everyone else out with pop ups. Later going deeper in the game the opposing team began to talk and throw insults and I couldn’t concentrate. I asked the umpire behind me could he make them stop and he looked confused and said what do you mean after 3 tries and failures I took matters in my own hands in my next at bat when the catcher continued to insult me I told him to shut the F up and was met with a tall with the umpire which ended with him telling me not to do that again. He also proceeded to rob me of my next at bats leaving me guessing what to swing at and calling pitches strikes below and outside of the strike zone

@@anthonyz5671 yea. It’s a mixed response but the truth is the attack is the same. Even for “rising” softballs. They don’t really rise. I teach my kids boys and girls the same swing. In fact I’ve been teaching what Joey Myers teaches. You can look him up under hitting performance lab. Many women’s D1 coaches are teaching his stuff and absolutely destroying the ball. Actually just watched a video he released today. hittingperformancelab.com/softball-practice-drills/?Email&General-List& don’t want to hijack this video. @@TheRoadLessChosen sounds good Ill have to check it out. Not to be confrontational or anything, but there is one softball pitch that does truly rise. Its called a Rise-ball. I do know pitching since my daughter is a pitcher It has a different rotation than other patches. a good pitcher can make it jump from about knee high to chest high. Ive seen it devastating pitch.
@djhunt77
@djhunt77 3 жыл бұрын
@@anthonyz5671 the rise ball doesn't actually defy gravity and increase angle post-release. it appears to rise but in reality it doesn't drop as much as the other pitches. the pitcher releases the ball near their thigh at an uphill angle, so that it will cross the plate often above the strike zone and near the batter's shoulders. if you track the angle from the side you'll see the ball does drop. www.studlife.com/sports/softball-sports/2016/04/07/thanks-magnus-physics-defines-softballs-signature-pitch/
