If caller is deeper is this a good combo to check raise the river as a bluff?

Yes

Hero here, i didnt mention it during the actual call but i would rather take this hand as a checkraise bluff rather than just shoving due to the facts discussed in the hand. The reason i didnt do that is obviously cuz of the shallow stackdepth at the river which would leave me with basically 0 fold equity against a bet from the villain when checked to. I tend to rather checkraise when bluffing in simular scenarios when stackdepth allow it. That being said i agree that i target too narrow of a range here to fold out by shoving just like you said, like 6 combos or so, thanks for letting me on and keep up the good work Bart!

Problem is when discussing the river AA, QQ and KJ doesn't play like this especially not on the river. You are only repping flushes imo. I agree that you credibly rep AhXh and if I were IP I would fold everything without a heart in my hand. W that being said I am not sure a low stakes player is folding 2 pair. Also I think its important to consider when you do arrive at the river w a flush are you actually gonna donk jam for over pot? I dont think most players do bc they realize most hands that call a donk jam will also bet river. Also I would 3b larger pre somewhere between 4x and 5x if stacks are 100bbs.

After that last video that you referenced, @crushlivepoker, I was inspired to x/r the river as a bluff with a medium-strength hand. Felt good to try something I previously wouldn't have even considered (and felt better that it worked out lol). So thank you for all your helpful content every week. 55 on Q43J7. Slightly different situation as I was not the pre-flop aggressor and had lower SDV than hero in this video, but same general idea.

I’ll intentionally rattle a few cages and ask if AJ has enough equity to call the turn bet, and if not, enough implied odds to make up any deficit. What types of hands does BTN need to bet the turn with in order to give AJ enough equity to call this street? In general, will players bet those hands often enough to create a range that AJ can compete against?

i hate that river jam....villain's bet on the turn likely was either a "call-me" value bet (2 pair, set, or straight all make sense) or a semi-bluff with hearts...hard to see any of those hands folding except maybe QT, especially getting around 2-1 and this being a nickel-dime game (and villain probably has 8 windows open or something too)

Does the hero check call KJ on turn? Does he take this line with AA or QQ when backdoor completes? Imo he doesnt
@gregjohnson67933 жыл бұрын
The one thing I'm learning most from these videos - is that they start with the caller saying "Villain doesn't have"... and ends with "villain has" exactly what he "doesn't have". Its a range - not hard and fast. Bell curve. AAA flop makes it LESS likely they have an A. Not impossible.... the same person doesn't always play the same hand the same - different stacks, players at the table, position, how tired they are - you can't just say "he doesn't have".

Hero keeps saying that on the river he could have AA or QQ and villain can't so he thinks he's getting more folds, but I really doubt that he would play AA or QQ like this on the turn with a x/call and then open jam on river when backdoor flush comes in.

I feel like when you told the hero on the river that he was obviously bluffing that's not what he was going to say. I feel like he was going to say that he wanted to lead out because when he was ahead he didn't want it to go check check. And he felt his hand was too strong to fold. I feel like the fact that somebody folded a bigger hand was a happy accident. I believe 99% of players call with a set of Queens there. I believe a big majority of players call with two pair. The only better hand you might be able to get to fold out most of the time is maybe Ace King.
@guybrushthreepwood81744 жыл бұрын
Bart: but what better hands do you think you can get to fold? Caller: I have all these nutted hands in my range. The guy doesn't even understand the concept of what better hands will fold. he just thinks that because he can have nutted hands in his range that he should bluff. But he's missing the whole concept of what better hands will fold.
