Actually most consults are "elevated troponin" of 0.06 in a 95 year old with septic shock and pneumonia, followed closely by atrial fibrillation in that same patient, who is DNR btw.

I had a major blockage in my widow maker. I am 44. The dr asked me what I did to give myself a heart attack. I said ummmm genetics. Drug screens all clean and no energy drinks. I did admit to liking fatty foods smoking cigarettes and never really drinking water. Lol. I own up to my issues. They all laughed. Then they continued to fix the damage.😂😂

@@TheChloe1331 Except maybe the one who killed my 83-year-old father by convincing him (and us) that in spite of his diabetes, high blood pressure, and history of strokes, he was strong enough for a triple bypass and mitral valve replacement. Which, in the OR, suddenly became a quintuple bypass with a mitral valve replacement. The last two years of my dad's life were hell for him and all of us--because my father's age didn't matter one bit to this man. We all still feel guilt for trusting him and letting us convince us it was the right decision.

The mitral valve oh yes, very happy with it's 2 little leaflets, dancing along across the red shaded dark space of the heart, dividing the L atrium and the L ventricle, doing it's dodilligence to make sure blood doesn't regurgitate during systole, working hard and strong every day, all day, in order to keep you happy as well

It's the bicuspid valve, in comparison to the tricuspid valve located in between the R atrium and the R ventricle. I feel "bicuspid" is more descriptive, since it has 2 slits

Every cardio consult is a 2 step operation. First you consult cardio to let cardio know they should tell you to get an echo. Then you get the echo. Then you reconsult.

I need to be honest, I really enjoy these as a patient, because I have a complicated as hell chart and it's hard not to worry sometimes. I'm getting strapped up to a heart monitor for a week soon because of some scary new cardiac symptoms. I'm also a very anxious person in general, and I've had a lot of bad appointments in the past where there were real problems that weren't found because they said I was "just anxious." I know that's not going to happen this time. It's nice to know the thought process of the doctors. Your videos really make me feel like they will leave no stone unturned. I'm already feeling a little better.

Reading the ECG eluded me throughout med school. I really tried, I spent a whole day reading a pocket guide on ECG, something a fellow med student later referred to as, "why do they make us read that thing, it's like ECG for idiots, way too basic!" Lol. But, I'm a psychiatrist. We only look at one thing: QRS duration. Skit: a psychiatrist gravely examines the ECG. Then writes down the duration of the QRS. Period.

Not medical professional, but witnessed my doctor consulting with other specialists many times. The level of confidence correlates with their own respective position. One specialist had to assure me that this is their "norm"... They're not at each other's throat whatsoever.

I have a small valve defect that in most people would be fine but I also have a genetic disorder that makes even small defects dangerous. I am having to be monitored from time to time but what exactly my cardiologist is looking for is a mystery - "it's something I will know when I see it... but for now, all good! See you again." He really is just making sure I have an enthusiastic valve, huh?

Got a rapid read calling mild sinus tach an "abnormal" ecg, at 104bpm and mild anxiety. Went in for the reference stress test, and the cardiologist, holding the ECG readout in her hand, said "real stretch to call this abnormal", did the stress test, and immediately reported negative iscemia, negative for Exercise Induced arrhythmia. Pretty much clear, and now I have my category 1 medical without restrictions.

My autonomic cardiologist is my favorite, mainly because I can say my cardiologist recommended I go to a metal festival in Germany. I have no idea how the guy isn’t burnt out yet though, he’s the only cardiologist who specializes in autonomic issues in a large area. Must be the metal music.

But do you know how to feed a vegan or vegetarian in the hospital? I don’t mean just going to Walmart, buying a block of tofu and throwing it into beef vegetable soup because it says “vegetable” on the label, and adding melon balls, a cold Sprite and cold apple pie to the tray, I mean a real, substantial, delicious, interesting, hot meal every day. Outside of the Mayo in Minnesota, I’ve never met a dietician who does.
